You know, I thought the same thing but now having actually faced this army (a lot), the Gorgon mortars have been used in just about every game.

There is no substitute for actually playing against an army in capable hands.

Gorgon assault companies are a blast to use. While powerful, I haven't seen them to be overly so. Use TK weapons to keep the infantry outside, then use mobility to hit them on the edge. Eldar give me fits with clipping all the time. Use positioning to enter combat on your own terms.
