Heya guys,

A question has just occurred to me, has there ever been a mention of an Eldar titan on the scale of an imperator or Mega-Gargant?

I mention the thought of such a Titan and I was verbally beaten into a corner like zebra walking into a pack of loins....

Consider yourself lucky that it was only a verbal beating since you were walking into a pack of "loins." I'm sure the alternative would have been much less pleasant :P

I think the thought has always been that arming the "soap bubbles carrying sledgehammers" with a sledgehammer carrying sledgehammers would be bad.

That being said, given how vulnerable Eldar Titans are after their Holos are down, even a 10-12DC Titan would wither pretty quickly. The problem is that there are no shoulder mounts on any current Eldar Titans. I would say there is precedent (the Wraithlord) but it's a tough sell. A Warlord-style Eldar Titan with arm and shoulder mounts would be neat, but finding acceptance would be tough, I think.

I proposed one in a Lugganath Eldar Titan list and got a luke warm response. I have plans to eventually build one but they are on hold until I can free up more personal time. I think when people see one, they will be more responsive to just the paper stats of one.

My biggest problem with a larger eldar titan is that it would be difficult to scratch build one and not have it look like crap. If you can make one and have it look good while also NOT looking like just a 40k wraithlord surrounded by epic tanks, then maybe.

But there is also the idea that the eldar don't necessarily subscribe to the 'bigger is better' design philosophy. What would be the loadout of this bigger titan - same as a phantom x 2? or are you thinking same number of guns as a phantom, but with more powerful effects?

Maybe the bigger titan could be a result of a titan clan combining all of the infinity circuits of 4 phantom titans and 1 warlork titan, and it could be like voltron or devastator.

My own thought was to have the same classes of weaps as on a Phantom, but with two arm and two shoulder mounts, on a 10-12DC chassis. Realisitcally the only good platform for it's construction would be the 40k Wraithlord, so not looking like one would be problamatic, though I think redoing the head would be a huge help.

I feel like Imperator titans make sense for the Imperium because their deity is, in some way, human. The Mega Gargant can also be seen as “the ultimate ork.”

But an Eldar equivalent would not look like an eldar at all – it would look like their god of war. It would be the Avatar, but larger than a Phantom titan. Might as well just use the 40k model! No, that would look weird.

But I just don’t see the craftworlds using a larger titan. Phantoms already use twins and triplets, which have got to be as rare as it gets. It’d also be rather wasteful to build an even larger webway portal for a larger ground-based unit that’s too rare to ever be seen. The larger portals are in space; when the Eldar need a really big gun, they can turn to their smaller spacecraft (which have a fairly large pulsar in front).

You could argue that they might need that gun on a land unit, but it’s probably too big to look proportional on an Imperator-sized titan.

*edit* Now that I think about it, I’m being too dogmatic. I could see Iyanden, in particular, creating something larger.

There is also the practical consideration; If you have a 12DC (Same as the Imperator!) Eldar Titan with 4 guns, it will have to cost 2000pts.

Crap, why can I never remember Eldar battle titans are only 6 DC? A 9 DC Super titan, then. Keeps the progression between Scout, Battle, Super, and also is proportional to how the other Titans are (50% larger than the Battle).

Can anyone tell me a few measurements from the Phantom?

Specifically, Upper arm length, lower arm length, pulsar length, diameter of the attachment point between the leg and foot, and head length.

I have a half built Wraithlord, and after prying the head off and some quick dry fitting, here is a shot of it.

Hopefully the 40k Reaper Launcher is a bit smaller than the pulsar, because it's at the small end of feasable for the arms.

I think it would make a pretty darn good base, if the phantom parts will fit it.

There are two Phantom heads. Perhaps the one with the larger frill/plume could be used for this monstrous Eldar monstrousity.

They've been ret-conned to be single crewman in the new model now. I have no especial strong feeling either way on a larger Eldar titan. If a decent proxy can be developed and rules tested I see now particular reason why not for an Eldar titan list, though I'm personally unlikely to have the necessary models to play such a list.

I gather the new FW Phantom is larger than the old one, but to what extent? If someone were ever to de-bigurise one could it feasible be used as a larger titan alongside existing model ones if desired?

What about this? 1100 plus weapons?

Code:
Eldar Eidolon Titan

WE   25cm   5+   3+   3+

2x Eldar Twin Missile Launcher   45cm   AP4+/AT4+/AA5+

Choose 4 Eldar Battle Titan Weapons. No more than two may be of the following types: Eldar Titan Power Fist, Spirit Sword.

Notes: Damage Capacity 9, Holofield, Walker, Fearless, Leader, Reinforced Armour
Critical: Holofield destroyed. Any further critical hits will cause one additional point of damage.

Note I'm assuming it's to be used in the ETC list.

I'd say that beast would be worth 1500pts with weapons, easy.
