Hi!

I dont know about some of those prices, they look pretty high to me.

FW is definitely a better deal.

Arrrg 25 pounds for a rulebook.  I guess I should have expected as much from Gamesworkshop.  Probably softcover too.

my now only 2cents,

Quick observation: The US online store has removed many of it's Epic 40k era models. This is most likely due to the coming of Epic:A.

Side note: Could someone in the US see if the US mail order still stocks ALL of the Epic 40k plastics, if not, which ones they do stock.

Many thanks

Chris

Check the archive section of the online store.  They have moved most of the metal stuff there.  I don't know about the plastics, though.

Wow. I remember getting some slack back in the day in the playtesting forum when I speculated that the Leman Russ company would be $30. Remember how I said playing the IG would be cheaper allowing a player to pick two support detachments per company???

So, using a currency converter, a Leman Russ company comes to $35. I hate being right.

As I/drax said, most Epic metals are in the Archive Section.  And last I checked G/W US MO had most if not all the Epic E40K plastics.  And Many (not all) items going back to SM1 are in the 2003 US MO Price Guide ...

I saw that Tom, surely the Tau aren't that bad  }:)

Actually I was trying to work out what I wanted from the pre-order stuff and it gets quite expensive. I know that you dont have to buy all straightaway but even so when its spread out over time its still expensive, especially for the Land raiders, I mean 20 quid! :O

You know it wouldnt be so bad if they do sales every now and then, then everyone could swoop in and buy buy buy! ???

Somebody at the Playtesters forum has posted thisRight, to correct and confirm - I've seen the models - held them in my hands, and glued Orks together.

Land Raiders are ?12 for 4, not ?20. As shown on the label on the Blister Pack.

Arty and Tank companies are both ?20.

Each Ork Warband set contains 4 Sprues, with enough parts for 1 Nob, 2 Grots, 4 Boyz, 1 Kommando and 1 Stormboy on each, as well as a few spares. It's odd, but that's how the sprues are. I know, I put together all the Reading store's Ork Warbands yesterday.

Chimeras will be ?12 for 7 in a boxed set.

Guard Infantry Companies are made up of Valhallans, but painted Brown or Grey look close enough to the trenchcoated Steel Legion or grim Death Korps infantry. Each box will contain 24 Infantry units, 4 Ogryns, 4 Snipers and 4 Officers, which can be made as Commissars, Supreme Commanders or Command.

The Space Marine company has no parts for Characters - only parts enough for 28 tactical units and 4 Assault units, although, obviously, the Tacticals can be made up as Devestators instead.

The Rhinos are ?9 (or ?10, I forget which), for 6.

More info as I remember it

I'm very releived that the Land Raiders were a typo!!!

Cheers!

4 Stands of Stormboyz in a boxed set when you need 6 for a detachment ????

One word: scenery

Pile up some ruined buildings or rubble or a tree or something in one corner of the stand, and use less than 5 Stormboyz on it (shock, horror)  :o
Then distribute your 20 Stormboyz amongst the 6 required stands.  }:)
If you have extra Orks, the odd stand-in gretchin or boy won't look amiss - these ARE Orks, after all.  :-:

Yes, but stormboyz are the one formation in the ork army that are supposed to be as regular and trained as humies  :(

There's a silver lining in the cloud. Not very big but... THE REAVER IS BACK!!!!!!

Edit: Now that I have looked at the other pics I'm suddenly not so sure. The infantry pics are of the plastic ones and the Gunwagon models are all of the SM1 era. There's even a old braincrusha!  :o

They do look like the last set of minis, just repackaged. But, that was kind of what I was expecting anyway. Has the Hunter changed design from the preview on the web page? I will have to sort out a pre-order after Christmas... the rule book and probably some Chimeras as well. The rest can probably wait for a while, as I have plenty of minis to be getting on with.

Another 4 (well, 5) words:
camouflage
casualties
rokkit packs
fluff

camouflage - they're hiding behind those boulders! :p
casualties - this IS a wargame, some of them got offed. :(
rokkit packs - yes, there were 5, but those rokkit packs can be SO erratic!
fluff - the WH40K fluff has dropped most (if not all) of their organizationality ???

sneeky cheers :-:  :-:

Much of the models are as we were told, "doppelgangers" of E40K. However, I'll definitely be buying the new stuff! ?

And selling off the extras at cost! :;): ?

I should change my call sign to Ferengi 4 or Quark!
