The title 'Apocrypha' of Skaros implies that it's not official – since it means 'hidden away', or 'of questionable authenticity'.
I see what you're doing with the name, and it does sound kinda fun, but I agree that it's not exactly punchy and eye-catching. It sounds like a really obscure sub-group.
...Honestly, right up to this point, I thought you were arguing
for the name.

'Codex Astartes' is a bit more familiar, but keeps the atmosphere. 'Index Astartes' would work, if you want to move away from the official-sounding name.
Index Astartes has other connotations I don't want to get into. A proper Index Astartes list (to my mind) would have a variety of optional upgrades to let you represent particular doctrinal quirks or alternate preferences. I'm kind of tempted to try it some time, actually.
Point is - when I hear Index Astartes, I think something very different.

I like the idea that it's just a general alternative, so perhaps something less flowery, such as 'Space Marines: Ground Assault', and keep the Apocrypha of Skaro* as a subtitle?
Yeah, but then I'm violating previous list naming standards
and being all dull about it. Where's the fun in that?
At the moment, if I didn't stick with the Apocrypha I'd probably go with Steel Dogs, since it does sound vaguely like a ground-focused list.

You could also tie it into an era: perhaps the Horus Heresy (lots of ground war, but covers a lot of options) or something.
I have a dream of a Horus Heresy list, which some day I must complete. For then I can launch the best Epic recruitment tool ever - re-enactments of the Horus Heresy!

Glad you like it.

I kind of do, too.
