Turn 1
Strategy Roll
Novamarines

Image
The first turn is marked by the hesitant advance of the Eldar Titans, who struggle to place blast markers on the Astartes.

Opting to wait in ambush, the Astartes watch as the Ghost Machines walk. Spear Out of Eons doubles forward and fires at Predator Epsilon, but they are shielded by the tall ruins. Spear returns to its starting position, guarding the Blitz objective.

The Whirlwinds huddle close to tall ruins, shielding themselves from sight.

The Revenants burn their jetpacks and jump onto the road, claiming the immobised Damocles Rhino objective in the ravine.

Driving off the road, the Tactical Marines double forward into the tall ruins in front of their position, and disembark, claiming the objective at the road fork.

Hymn to Rebirth advances towards the road, in support of the Revenants.

In response, the Land Raider detachment dart forward into the low ruins, and strikes at the Warlock, causing no damage, but placing a blast marker.

Alerted to the threat, Autumn of Our Days advances and attempts to fire upon the Land Raiders, but are frustrated by the tall ruins and Hymn to Rebirth itself between them.

On the opposite side of the battlefield, Echo squadron cautiously advances into the ruins in front of them; and Epsilon squadron advance.

End of Turn
All the blast markers are removed.

Turn 2
Strategy Roll
Novamarines

Aware of their vulnerability, the Supreme Commander urges the transport Land Raiders to fire as they struggle to respond. The Land Raiders open up on in a sustained burst against Hymn to Rebirth, but fail to find their mark.

One the other side of the battlefield, Autumn of Our Days doubles forward once more, and takes a pot shot at Echo Predator squadron, placing a blast marker. Stalking backwards, the Eldar Titan returns to its original position.

Desperate to sway the tide of battle, the Supreme Commander pushes forward in a double, but finds his troops out of range of Hymn to Rebirth after disembarking! The transport Land Raiders fire, and though Hymn to Rebirth swayed elegantly, a hit is scored.

With new targets presented, Spear Out of Eons fires at the Marine Commander's formation, destroying one of the exposed tanks and scattering a squad of Terminators to the winds.

Image

The Whirlwinds fire a crippling barrage at Hymn to Rebirth. The Titan shrugs off the barrage itself, but the supporting Hunter scores a second point of damage.

Doubling forward, the Revenants pounce on the Land Raider squadron, bursting two of the proud tanks with glittering beams and breaking them. The squadron falls back in good order.

Retaining, Hymn to Rebirth's weapons groaned ominously, and its set its legs as its began systematically taking apart the Supreme Commander's formation, reducing the formation to two squads of Terminators and two Land Raiders. Taking the brunt of the Titan's firepower, the Supreme Commander's Iron Halo stands firm and he emerges unscathed.

While Echo Predator squadron cautiously crawl forwards in an advance, interposing the buildings between the Eldar War Machines and themselves, Epsilon squadron advance with purpose up the roads to the cratered section, their long-range weaponry just out of range of Autumn of Our Days this turn.
Image

Secure in the ruins, the Tactical formation sustains fire at Hymn to Rebirth, causing a further hit. The Titan sways uncertainly, but opts not to withdraw.

Finally, the Imperial Navy Thunderbolt Squadron sweep in for a ground attack on Hymn to Rebirth – but both are mercilessly scythed down by anti-air fire from Autumn of Our Days.

End of Turn
All the blast markers are removed, except for two on Hymn to Rebirth, and two on the Land Raider squadron.

Turn 3

Pre-turn deployment
With their air support destroyed, the Supreme Commander grimly orders his reserves in. With a crack of displaced air, four squads of Terminators appear in a low defilade by the Eldar Blitz.

Strategy Roll
Novamarines

Image

Wasting no time, Echo squadron pounces on Spear Out of Eons, catching it in a crossfire with the newly-arrived Terminators, who retain and sustain fire upon the hapless War Machine. Triangulating their firing solutions with the Terminators, Spear Out of Eons takes four points of damage. It falls back in disarray towards its fellows, coming to a halt next to Autumn of Our Days after its second withdraw move.

Image

The Warlock Titan, smoking and swaying, sustains fire at the Supreme Commander's formation, even as he bellows orders to his surviving troops. The formation is virtually destroyed, a single surviving Land Raider spitting dirt and fury as it withdraws to a safe distance. The Warlock cried its victory to the heavens at the death of the enemy Commander.

Keen to drive off the Eldar and recover the bodies of their veterans and Chapter Master, Epsilon squadron moves forward and fires at Autumn of Our Days, causing a further point of damage.

The Revenants jump forward in pursuit of the Supreme Commander's Land Raider, but their aim is wide and the Raider survives. They leap back towards their Warlock.

Taking advantage of the close-packed Eldar, the Whirlwind artillery opens up on the stricken Autumn of Our Days, catching one of the Revenants in the blast. While the smaller titan successfully dodged, the smoke-belching Warlock was impossible to miss. Great wounds appeared on the ancient Engine, and with a swaying groan, it began to topple to the ground, hurried on its way with a missile strike from the Hunter.

A ragged cheer went up over the Astartes vox-link, but it died down as the furious helmsman of Autumn of Our Days drew a bead on the retreating survivors of the transport Land Raiders, and reduced them to burning hulks.

Stony-faced, the Astartes tried a final gambit, satisfied that the field was theirs and the Eldar would be unable to contest. The Tactical Formation boarded their Rhinos and gunned their engines to the east, sweeping through the streets under the Eldar's noses and claiming the objective in the ruins of the Eastern habs.

Meanwhile, Epsilon squadron darted from cover and marched to the abandoned Eldar Blitz; claiming it and cutting off the Eldar's retreat.

End of Turn
Astartes victory – Break Their Spirit; Blitz; Hold the Line; Take and Hold.

Thanks for writing up the battle Apologist. :)

All I have to add is my conclusion, which is that it was a very enjoyable game in which I was outplayed. :) This is only my third or fourth game of this version of Epic and I'm still trying to get my head around remembering the objectives.
In hindsight I should have put a bit more effort into guarding my table edge. Only a single Land Raider from the Terminator formation survived the close range barrage from Hymn to Rebirth and his buddies, but it did deny me the 'break their spirit' objective. A bit of bad luck and some good rolling from Apologist, but at the end of the day it wouldn't have changed the outcome.
At the end of the day I need to remember to plan objectives for the titans and not get carried away by just blasting things to bits with their awesome firepower (although that did pay off in the AMTL game ;) ).

Thanks for writing the list. ;) I'm having fun play testing it, and I'm hoping Apologist is enjoying playing against it. As you've pointed out I did feel a little out activated. I'm considering adding a war walker or guardian formation when I expand in points.

Now I must get some paint on these titans! ;)

Very much so! I was very glad to see the Warlock fall eventually (first – and only! – kill I've made in both games :D); and the crossfire on Spear Out of Eons proved that some small-unit tactics really can work against a War Engine list.

I think the update to the Eldar Titan Clan feels right – the removal of leader across the board gave me a sense that I could eventually slow 'em down with enough firepower, and there's a definite feel of grandeur coupled with super-deadly death rays that suits the background very well.

Both lists looked quite unusual probably because we're both just starting out; but it's lovely to be surprised – the Whirlwinds in particular startled both of us!

...and I'd better get these Marines painted up ASAP for a rematch :D

Good battle rep, nice to see the eldar titan list in action, i have been following it closely, as you have pointed out already you need a few more smaller activations so you can bide your time with the big boys and not commit them to early, cheap guardian units are perfect, cheap and when they get into some cover they will stay alive for a long time. and it gives you xtra farseers on the board for those crucial trplie activations when its crunch time.

Looking forward to reading more battle reps with this list :)
