Hi, and welcome.

The Epic core rules are fully updated on the Games Workshop website. The only things that have been updated since then are the army lists, which can mostly be found in the draft commpendium documents in this forum sub-section: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/viewforum.php?f=69.

A team is working towards getting it all into one document.

Thanks guys, i'm still a bit confused, I heard the D6 Generation review of epic armageddon today. As i understood it they said there was a 2008 printed GW book, that was also available free pdf download, but that there was a lot of errata etc.

This had all been built into a compendium document on this website.

If I understand the version of the rules downloadable from the GW website is now the full compendium version updated with the errata?? Or did i misunderstand :)

I guess the 2 next obvious things are the army lists and seeing who makes models for whatever GW don't make. I presume someone makes something suitable for Tyrannids or Necrons or Tau?

Thanks guys

Something like...

? Current EA Rulebook (Oct08) = Original EA Rulebook (05?) + GW Errata document
? GW FAQ document supplemental to current rulebook

Are there any additional NetEA Errata/FAQ for the core rules?

That's correct. The rulebook on the website has the 2008 Errata integrated into it. The 2008 Errata and FAQ are still available separately as well.

There is no integrated hard copy available. The closest you can get is the original rulebook with the Errata printed out. Alternatively, you could probably find a printer that would print a hard copy of the free PDF but that's going to depend on your local copyright laws and the printer's interpretation of them.

As far as army lists, the official GW lists are those in the rulebook, Swordwind, White Scars and Speed Freeks (published in Fanatic! magazine), and Black Legion and The Lost and the Damned ("published" online when SG/GW made them official).

There are a number of alternative lists around but they are all "fan" lists. There is a NetEA project in process to collect all the lists for the respective factions with notes as to how well tested and balanced they are. EpicUK is also working on a set of official lists for the UK tournament circuit. For the "official" lists, there are generally very few changes, usually just point tweaks but a few greater differences here and there. In many cases the NetEA and EpicUK lists are very similar but EpicUK tends to be more conservative, making fewer changes in order to get a variety of lists out quickly.

That podcast actually mentioned the Epic Handbook 2008, which is not 100% GW official.

As a quick background... a couple of years after GW published EA in 2004 the fans put together a change list. GW pretty much sat on these and didn't do anything. So a fed-up
fan (Markonz) put together the Handbook. After that, enough fan pressure finally got Jervis to sit down and go through all the changes. He kept a few and nixed a few, the result of this were the 2008 Errata/FAQ, which are now incorporated into the PDFs on the GW site.

The PDFs on the GW site are pretty much a subset of the rules found in the Handbook.

I had a quick look but did not find much in the way of proxies.

What tend to be the most popular out there?

Depends on the army in question. Exodus Wars produce excellent proxies which could be used for Necrons and Squats, Dark Reakm Miniatures produce decent Guard and Tyranid proxies.

I'll PM you some more information.

I would also like to know more about what companies make good proxies for Epic, I've been looking for some but haven't found very many.
