+1. You're trying to argue sense in a world where theres genetically engineered super-dudes driving across battlefields on a bike, shooting machineguns from the handlebars while he wields a magic sword to slash at enemies as he drives by. Chill and leave it be.

I can assure you, that if FW or GW were ever to create knight models, the work of a minority of epic fans wouldn't begin to enter into their thoughts.

I got no problems with a medieval world set in a high tech future. No problem with Crusader Knights kitted out in best in personally weaponry and armour that the technology of their time can provide. Makes sense to me.

Same as I have no problem with the Space Samurai of Star Wars

These are excellent translations. The knights stuff isn't, it's w*nk. But that's just my opinion.

I'm just expressing my opinion and arguing my case is all. I am allowed to do that, yeah?

Done and dusted. Waiting for Hardcopies from Bill (Moscovian).

Yes, but considering as I'm already aware of this issue and have plotted a course that will hopefully please Modernists, Traditionalists and also Rationalists like yourself***, mayhaps another thread is a better place to continue this debate.

It is a useful debate, as it may well inform the Knightworld army list's development.

***Absurdists are going to be disappointed. Actually they're not; This supplement will feature Orks.

I'm sure you're right. I've taken this thread down to too narrow a focus and for way to long.

Aye, you can. I just find it slightly annoying when a thread for an interesting expansion that E&C is planning is taken over by the pedantic arguing that a Feudal world can't be called Feudal because the setting it's in is feudal. I think more than half the posts here are you arguing your point, a massive derailing in a thread where it doesn't really belong and deserves a thread for itself.

There could be multiple reasons why GW called these worlds Feudal, perhaps because they're allegiance is to the Ad-Mech, and not the emperor, but who knows? Frankly, I myself don't care, I just use my suspension of disbelief to have awesome and crazy fun in a realm where reality runs away screaming and clenching it's arse in fear.

So, back to spitballing.

The general consensus does lie behind a supplement featuring the Adeptus Mechanicus, versus Orks, on a valuable resource planet such as an Agri World that feeds a Forgeworld.

The lists I'd like to include are, as noted before:

- Orks (A generic waaaagh list - To be written by E&C)
- Ork Speed Freaks list (Army Champion: Tiny Tim)
- Ork Gargant Bigmob list (Army Champion: NealHunt)
- Ork variant list(s) such as Blood Axes, Deathskulls. (I believe Chroma has written some variant lists in the past)
- Sun-Tzork's Grotling Horde!!!!!!1! ((Army Champion: E&C)

- AMTL (Army Champion: E&C)
- Skitarii (Army Champion: E&C)
- Knightworld list (Army Champion: Morgan Vening)
- Atillan Rough Riders IG list (Army Champion: Rug)

So that's a good variety of army list writers and testing groups.

Now, does anybody want to throw their hat into the ring with another army list idea?

Likely additional lists could be variant Imperial Guard lists, variant Space Marine lists (Especially a Marine Chapter whose iconic enemy are Orks, and most especially Ork variant lists.

I see no problem with having more lists in there than we've had in supplements to date. Both Raiders and Siege featured relatively small scale conflict that only lasted a few weeks or months, whilst this supplement is going to look at a war lasting 3-4 years.

The reason they used the word "fuedal" is simple, it evokes the feel of a medieval world. It's poetic rather than literal.

Alansa: There's a wide, blurry line between the philosophical basis of a government and the practice of a government and the Imperium definitely straddles it, being more philosophically totalitarian and having substantial feudal elements in practice. Since historians and political scientists argue extensively about when practice becomes more important than philosophy and a government crosses from one category/label to another, I don't think we're going to settle anything regarding a fictional government.

What do you have in mind for a "generic" ork list? I thought the book/Ghazghull's list was pretty generic.

Freeks champion is Tiny Tim.

I also have a Blood Axe list that has substantially different elements than Chroma's. I'm pretty sure it's had more testing and it was under consideration by the EpicUK guys (after their Ork list came out - not sure what, if anything, they did with it).

Briefly, what kind of foot troops will a Knight army have?

I can bounce you an email with a pdf "sketch" of the list I have in mind, if you like.

But basically it's a list without Supa-Stompas, Gargants or Great Gargants (As they're all being used by the Gargant Bigmob on this particular planet), but with the "modern" DC4 Stompas from 40k (Weaker weapons, no shields, transport of 4 units +2 grot units, should make for an interesting "mounted in stompas" style infantry horde list). And also Meganobs, because I fancy scratchbuilding some / some people have made such units from the GW character sets.
Some other "modern" light units too, like the FW "Chinork" transport helicopter.

Ah good, that makes another name to throw into the pot, if he's happy to contribute.

I'd go with whatever the Ork Champion (You, heh) considered the more finished / closer to Approved status list, then. If you say it's your list, I should hunt it down.

The current list has Skitarii, and can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=18565

Noted and dropped, will discuss later if a thread ever comes up on it. Will your new 'generic' orks have grot tanks? ;D ;)
