I prefer the Fall of Gryphonne IV too, it's a much stronger story.

As an aside, can we just agree that the mega-dread that FW recently released is basically an Epic Stompa, where as the GW stompa is an Epic Supa-stompa?

I suggest we do because the mega-dread is a plain vehicle (no structure points), and has roughly the same weapon loadout as the Epic Stompa.

#2 - The invasion of Achill-Quag

This would chart the history of an Ork invasion of a planet the Ad-Mech uses as an agri-world, entirely dedicated to producing a nutrient gruel that sustains 20% of Accatran Forgeworld's Servitors. The planet is largely composed of fertile algae swamps, as the Ad-Mech have levelled off mountains and filled seas in order to dedicate as much area as possible to growing nutrients.
The Orks have come to steal technology from the Ad-Mech facilities in order to build Gargants for their Waaaagh!
Knights and Skitarii are stationed on the planet in "peactime", and in response to the Ork attack, Accatran Forgeworld sends the Titan Legion Legio Destructor (In the background, the biggest Titan Legion with 100+ Titans, known as the Steel Beasts) to combat the Orks.
The resulting war takes 3-4 years before it is settled, and by the end also invoves a couple of IG Regiments, and a Gargant Bigmob that the Orks have built on the planet.
This idea is not based on any existing piece of background.

Involved forces would be:

- Orks (A generic waaaagh list)
- Ork Speed Freaks list
- Ork Gargant Bigmob list
- Ork variant list(s) such as Blood Axes, Deathskulls.
- Sun-Tzork's Grotling Horde!!!!!!1!

- AMTL (Using War Gryphonnes list but now renamed to Steel Beasts)
- Skitarii
- Knightworld list
- Atillan Rough Riders IG list (Good counterpoint to the Ork Speed Freaks)

If you hold off on serious work on this until after August, I'm definitely in, but I think this is a bit ambitious. Just the Mechanicus is 3 armies, plus OGBM and one other Ork list is 5. I think the Atillans is a little bit redundant with the knights, at least as far as the "sweeping the plains" feel.

We have a series of scenarios we did for an Armageddon campaign. We started to adapt them for a "mean and green" supplement but there were a ton of titans so it was proving difficult and work stalled. However, that's not a problem with AM involved...

1) Sneaky Ork gits, aka Blood Axes, stage a planetside raid to take out orbital defense laser installations. Originally played with basic Ork list v IG, replayed with Blood Axe list. Can be readily adapted to Tech Guard.

2) BFG scenario where Ork Battlekrooza attempts to get Landas to the surface. Imperial defenses are affected by the results of scenario #1.

3) Titan pursuit scenario on wide open plains. Titans are trying to both destroy the orks on the board and move enough forces off-board to continue their pursuit of the main Ork force. Originally played AMTL v Speed Freeks. Could be adapted to knights. Not sure about terrain, but there'd have to be some dry land.

4) AMTL versus a landed Ork Rok Fortress in a jungle. The infamous battle where my battlefortress mob was about to crush a Warlord titan and instead self-desctructed through a ridiculous series of failed terrain checks and criticals. Readily adapted to an algae swamp.

5) Dockyard assault by Krawlas coming up out of the sea. Originally OGBM v IG and hive militia that we made up. Readily adaptable to Tech Guard and forge militia versus Krawlas rising out of an algae sea to attack a giant processing facility.

6) Gargants and Orks try to capture factory complex against AMTL. Weighted for the Orks, however, they can accidentally destroy the factories instead of capturing them and that subtracts from their victory (which is exactly what happened).

7) Massive siege scenario - 4K Orks, plus half of the survivors of all scenarios versus 2K IG (Skitarii) versus half the Imperial survivors of all scenarios, preferably on an oversized table. We actually never played this. It would have been about 10K on a side, with half a dozen titans and gargants.

So... done? ;)

Kinda.

An Epic Stompa has 3 main weapons (Big Guns & CCW), whereas a Megadread has only 2 main weapons (Big Guns & CCW).

So, almost.

Again, kinda.

The 40k version has no shield, and a transport capacity of 20 boyz makes for an interesting prospect. Its guns are also generally not as good as the Epic version.

Aye I do think it's ambitious. But I think it can be pulled together with some community effort.
I'm confident that by concentrating on several different list styles, we can rope in more testers than we would just by concentrating on one main list and then a paper tiger for them to face (I'm eyeballing Siege here, as although the Mossinians did eventually end up with a unique character, they started life as pretty mucha photocopy of the Siegemasters list).

Of the loyalist lists, AMTL is nigh-done, and Skitarii are being focused on by me currently.
Knights are back at the forefront of testing at the moment, and considering these projects take 6-8 months to put together that should be time to balance them.
Atillans I think would be fun to have, and Rug is intent on testing those (So again, an active developer).

Of the Orks, the variant warband list I've cooked up I intend to test thourghly myself, and it'll be 80% the same as the Armageddon list anyway.

OGBM, I've never played against but I understand it had a good reputation for balance back when it was under regular testing. I would like to see the Mega Gargant looked at, for plot reasons.

Ork variant lists, I've seen some kicking about, no idea of their level of testing but if Orks are getting a community supplement, this seems to be the place to give them a page or two.

And Sun-Tzork's list because, well, just because. ;D

About 70% of those tally with similar events I have in my rough story outline. :)

We can be like the FW place and release it over multiple books and months....lol

Again I vote for AM/Nids!

Does that count as 2 votes then? ;D ::)

Kinda. An Epic Stompa has 3 main weapons (Big Guns & CCW), whereas a Megadread has only 2 main weapons (Big Guns & CCW).

Isn't this close enough?

Close enough to counts-as in the Gazghull's list... but I also don't see the problem with having a list where it's properly represented.

It's no different to one Marine list having Land Raiders, and another Marine list having Land Raider Crusaders. IMO.

So transport version of supa stompa?

Yep. Transport version with worse guns and no shields.

IMO It would make a lot more sense to try to make the supplements around already existing lists instead of trying to make bunch new lists for each of the supplement. Eg. try to finish something and not sprout new stuff always. I could offer Scions list for supplement (even though I had some other ideas for that already) where there is large open areas as it would be effective for AV based army :).

Most of the lists I've picked for the supplement currently exist, and just need finishing. Just one list is actually new (generic warband list). And frankly, since I'm the guy who's going to be doing most of the work on the supplement I don't see a problem with me cutting lose and writing one new list to fit amongst the ~8 NetEA community lists that'll be included.

I haven't decided whether I want to include a Marine list in this supplement or not.

----------------------------

So, what's your Scions vs x(?) supplement idea?

It'd be cool if more than one person was organising community supplements again.

If you go with the Gryphonne IV supplement, how about these guys?

Seems like the obvious choice. ;D

Tyranids would get my vote over Orks. However, the project with the Orks would allow for more scope in reagrds to adding your own ideas/flavour having no precedent set in previous fiction. I would imagine it would be more enjoyable to create something when there are less limitations on your imagination and it seems that you already have the makings of a good story. Also, it seems its preferred that Tyranids be left for something in which they will be in the spotlight.

So, #2.

At the end of the Siege storyline, the population of Mossino are all indentured into Imperial service offworld in penal regiments (Amongst other things)... mayhaps one of Mossino's penal regiments finds its end fighting Orks on an Adeptus Mechanicus Agri-World...
