This game used the Emperor's Children updated Version 3.2 found here: Emperor's Children development thread

My opponent LeanonRuss took the Emperor's Children and from what I remember his force looked a little like this:

Image

- 7 Activations
Subjugator
Subjugator
1x Questor
3 Formations of Decadents (each with various upgrades
1x Formation of 6 Terminators (teleporting)
Greater Daemon
6x Lesser daemons

The Marines I took were made to lay BM, break units, and then hunt them down

Image

- 10-12 Activations
Terminators (Teleporting)
Whirlwinds
Bikes + Chaplain
Land Speeders + Tornado
Tactical formation
Thunderboilts
Warhound
Warhound
Thunderhawk + Assault + Chaplain
Thunderhawk + Devastators

And the start of the game began...

The game started with the Emperor's Children making the mistake of running up their bi-peds (I did this too in my first game) to get their shots off while at the same time leaving themselves unsupported.

They did everything they could to kill the Land Speeders (probably to get their terminators to teleport next round), yet the steadfastness of the Marines were 2nd to none

Meanwhile the Marines concentrated minor firepower on getting rid of shields, and then following up with MW firepower where possible to try and down the Subjugators where possible. All this ended up doing was breaking one, yet left the others with BM to be taken out via Assaults:

Meanwhile...

sneaking Tactical Marines were moving into flanking positions ready to take objectives:

Not confident that he would win the next turn, the Emperor's Children Terminators teleported well outside of Engage range. Upon winning the initiative, they summoned a host a Daemons including the Keeper of Secrets itself and the proceeded to run between ruins and shoot (???)

This was really a telling point of the game as it allowed me with Marines to flank the Terminators (BTS) and break them through BM and then hunt them down.

Without Fearless or Indomitable, they did not stand a chance.

From this point the Emperor's Children were playing a game of denial rather than claiming any game wins. Thei lack of range and activations really hurt them in the end that saw this game end in a 4-0 win to the Marines (BTS, Blitz, T&H, Defend the Flag)

My opponent suggested that in a future game he would consider a drop force. We shall see how this goes

There are some considerations regarding the list:

- Daemon Engines moving to a 2+ initiative. If this comes in, I would think that a drop in points for either Hell Knights, Sujugators, Questors or all of them is a consideration (there was the thought that you should be able to take 2x Subjugators and 2xQuestors in a 3000 point force)

- List needs to be played more competitively. Basic mistakes are being made with strategy (I am fully guilty of this myself)

- We have not taken a "I am going to bend you over" army yet (example: LeanonRuss did not take any Noise Marine formations - interesting to see these in a drop)

- Good to see that the Daemonic Pact included into the Decadent formation and the cheaper 'augment summoning' character saw the Greater Daemon being a consideration in the list. This objective has been met as far as I am concerned.
