all fair enough. still, try it against IG and SM and see how they get on.

yep, I meant SoV, always get confused by the monikers (I just call them Falcons). One of the nastiest fms, along with guardians and wraithguard with a storm serpent, that I field :)

The problem I always have with Swooping Hawks is that they're a small fm that doesn't put out a lot of hits in assault. I you play them well, clipping a prepped fm with support, they work fine, but as a harrassment fm they're really only good for unguarded artillery fms or other small. Be interesting to see how they get on :)

I hesitate to give Chroma advice on how to use Eldar since few people know how to play Eldar as well as Chroma.

But the swooping hawk troupes seem to offer two possible strategies.

1. Turn 2 teleports to maximise a start of turn 2 "triple activation of doom". By teleporting all the SH down in position to pin/support the critical assaults. Adding 16 units "just where you need them" to win the assaults and/or isolate enemy formations from retaliating.

2. Turn 3 teleports to capture/contest objectives. Either by hiding them all, leaving 4 very fast formations that can move to any objective, or by placing them to prevent enemy movement to objectives.

If the enemy is aggressive and expansive then option 1 is most likely the best idea. If the enemy castles up then option 2 is probably better.

Teleporting scouts should be very good at pinning enemy formations in place so that most assaults can be the "worst" kind of clipping attack.

I figure that would work well against any army that plays with its formations on the board and with lesser SR than Eldar.

Against something like Necrons it probably won't work as they have so much held off-board and it just isn't possible to prevent their kind of special movement (portals).

Against air-cav SM it will also be tricky as getting off a triple activation at the start of the turn will be harder (SR), and a great deal of the SM points will be in off-board units.

Also the SH list will likely struggle against AMTL, for obvious reasons.

In all those cases though I imagine that the Eldar would still be in the game via option 2, at least as far as turn 3 objectives goes.

I've started a thread in the Eldar forums to discuss possible Swooping Hawk/Aspect Warrior abuse.
