I've been meaning to do some Lost and the Damned testing recently, but hadn't had the opportunity... until yesterday!

So, after filling out bellies with Thai buffet, my Evil Friend Dave and I settled in to play some EPIC.  I'd asked him to bring something from one of the published lists, and I put together a Three (plus One) Faction Lost and the Damned list to test out the 15cm hatred rule.

He brought a Steel Legion list, and we were ready to rumble!   :agree:

(Got in a second game too, WOOT!, but with a different test army, I'll post that later!)

I think this is an awesome way to kick off a gaming session. Consider the idea nicked.  :)

Looking forward to seeing the reports.

Well, we tend to switch-up (Tzeentch) between Thai (Slaanesh), Indian (Nurgle), and Southern BBQ (Khorne) before gaming... so we're always in a good mood when we play.  *laugh*

More to come soon... gotta go get groceries!

Turn 2

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Cultists

Eager to spread disease and despair, the Plague Tower winds up spitting up on itself as it fails to advance, even the Arch-Heretic is too disgusted to get things rolling, and it manages to take a pot-shot at the Tank Company… and takes out one Leman Russ!  *sigh*

Seeing the approaching threat, the Shadowswords sustain fire… on Coven 3 and cleanse the world of two Big Mutants.

Rough Riders 3 then engage the same Coven… but only manage to take out a Cultist before being wiped out in return.  ([i]My opponent feels that Big Mutants are *way* too cheap… sure, they’re comparable to Ogryn, but, generally, you can’t get a formation that’s half Ogryn… they *are* awfully good at “35â€Â

Turn 3

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Steel Legion

The Shadowswords double, positioning themselves so they only have line of sight on the Chaos Altar and let loose!  The Altar implodes in a vortex of raw energy that devours a Big Mutant and a Plaguebearer, and the Imperials cheer!

Infantry Company 2 then engages Coven 1, with the support of Company 1.  Round 1 sees four Infantry, one Cultists, and 1DC from the Great Unclean One removed.

Round 2 sees 2DC more, a Mutant and a Big Mutant go down, but the Imperials loose 3 infantry and the Commander with Commissar…and the Cultists win by “1â€Â

Thanks for the report Chroma.

My pleasure, thanks for reading it!

Was good to get the Cultists out there again.  *laugh*  The "all-inclusive" Hatred rule wasn't crippling at all, though it did make for more cautious play/positioning... which was good, had to really think ahead about where formations would be when withdrawing or rallying.  Was good mental juggling.  *laugh*

I'm definitely more inclined to mix Factions now than I was before.

Sounds like IG could have used some massed Disrupt artillery instead of the Shadowswords (which, though lethal, aren't going to do much against massed infantry). Some scouts as blocking/ delaying formations would have helped too, keeping the cultists away while IG are busy blowing them to pieces :)

Nice report - thanks for posting!

I didn't fancy the Steel Legion's chances when I saw the list. 4 lots of rough riders?! Someone really likes cavalry! Also a bit heavy on the flak?

Why did the IG player feed his Tank Company on turn 2 to LatD? If you are within 15-30cm of infantry coven, you should do something. Instead he engaged with Rough Riders a coven which isn't in range of engage. First action should have been advance or sustain from Russes to Coven 4.

Well, I believe he didn't realize I was going to summon Daemonic Beasts intstead of Flamers, which I usually do, so thought it was going to be a firefight in which he trusted his superiour stats... not a crippling close combat.

As for Deathstrikes. I think Plague Tower would have been better target as it had infantry inside it. However it wouldn't have made difference with the missing one .

There were no units in the Tower... just near it.

Well, he expected his Shadowswords and Leman Russ to have more to say than they did... *laugh*
