Toss in 2+ 3/3 tetra/piranha formations for scouts and overwatch. Its silly not to mark stuff with this list you are in some cases accepting a 50% drop in firepower. It is simply hobbling yourself to not get some markerlights.

Hell, I'd still go for 1 firewarrior formation to sit on the blitz, pref with a markerlight on overwatch all game.

I debated whether or not to take a Recon unit, but I shall accept your recommendations and see what happens.

I'll probably test this built at least a couple of times.

Thanx for the tips!

Honda, you do realize that 11 activations is not a spam list right? Most lists can generate 11 activations if they try, so you wouldn't be out-activating anyone by much at all, so it really just becomes largely a standard force from where I sit. Also, seeing as you went light on the skysweeps I think you're removed part of the issue you had with all the air cover. I'd like to see you play a Marine Air list and a bog-standard Eldar list with this. :yay:

42 MW shots alone

Which you could already do previously. The only difference is that all the crisis formation activate differently now. Your shooting hasn't changed.

Yes tis not a popcorn list, 10 activations is almost the bare minimum these days!

You know, I am really quite puzzled by the follow on comments after laying out my concerns (except from TRC). Are we not supposed to be discussing issues, whether real or not? Why all the assurances that there's nothing wrong and just trust us?

If my concern amounts to nothing, it will become self-evident fairly quickly. So let me test this. I've already stated use your own best judgement and nobody is being obligated to follow up on this issue. I did ask for help, that is all.

Given that the Crisis formation is a key component of the list, I would think that a stress test of that component, given the change would be obligatory, at the least.

What is the big deal on this?

Dobbsy, if I threw my intentions off by including the word "spam", then I apologize. In this instance, "Spam" has nothing to do with the number of activations, although it has been used that way, though it seems to me the more commonly used term is "popcorn". I used the term spam to denote the overall content of the list, i.e. nearly all Crisis formations.

Am I really so far out in left field that that is not obvious?

On the Stealth Suits Supreme Commander: I wouldn't mind seeing it added to the list. The addition of a special character to a 40K codex merely introduces the precedent for an exprienced Tau officer to deploy in a Stealth Suit. This shows that while perhaps not usual, it does happen with unorthodox Tau commanders.

The formula goes (or should go): Fluff example x No serious balance issue = Try It!

In Imperial Armour Apocalypse 2 the Tau Broadside Formation now has an official name: Tau Broadside Destructor Phalanx.

Looks like it's lead by a Stealth suit... which could be cool for local markerlighting.

Wow, that title blows!  :boo:  :boo: Do we always have to follow FW's lead? I vote we ignore FW and keep our own council on formation names.

More like up to 50cm away... scouts extended formation coherency... or if enemies approach the Broadies... lotsa options!

I think we should follow the FW/Apoc formation names as long as they make sense as a formation in Epic.

Whenever they're not stupid names like this one.

I like "bureaucratic/militaristic" sounding names for Tau formations: "Armoured Interdiction Cadre", "Pathfinder Search and Destroy Cadre", "Optimized Stealth Group".

But "flashy" names like "Tau Broadside Destructor Phalanx" just sound silly.

Seriously though, if we do we're applying 40K naming doctrine to Epic which doesn't translate directly due to A/formations being larger in Epic and
B/the unit make-up in the epic formations is also different to 40K and possibly not working well in combination with ech other.

Just food for thought from my perspective.  :yay:
