Hi,

ok. This year it looks like I'll be playing mostly 40k (maybe with a side of Necromunda)

To this end, I've finally started my Sisters of Battle army (with superheavy) I've been promising myself for years.

I've also got a partially built neo squat force converted from victrix napoleonics.
The problem is, even after removing 4mm from the model, they've only just reached heroic scale and don't look nearly stocky enough to be dwarves.
It's on hold until I decide what to do with the 40 odd I've built. I love them as they are, they just don't feel like dwarves, squats or Varyngr.

Final project this year maybe a diaorama of Looted-Dark-Eldar-tech DeathSkullz Orks.
Not many - maybe 5 or ten in a vehicle.

NEXT year, it's going to be epic.

There's currently no Epic Sister models (yet) and there's no active rules knocking around either.

Squats/Demiurge hold promise, but having been working with a neo-squat project for a few years, I'm not sure I can go back to the orgionals.

Orks are a Epic mainstay, and for that reason I'm semi reluctant to do them. Surely other races deserve love first?
That said, the OGBM list keeps luring me in. That may end up as a side project.
So does the Speed freaks list. I have a drawer of toy cars I'm saving...

So, what other races might you recommend?
I enjoy modelling and dislike spending, but I'd probably buy the majority if not all the army.

The necrons are looking cute

DE would just end up being looted I'm afraid

Tau, Eldar and both flavours of Space Marines have never really called to me

IG are semi-tempting but the Lost and the Damned far more so.

That's going to change very soon, Zombocom has 95% completed his master sculpts of 'astonuns', and will be taking them to metal production soon.

I'd work on them more if I could get more of the old epic chaos metals for a reasonable price.

If I were to start a new army, it would probably be Necrons.

Necrons for a new start. They could be a quick army also to get to a painted standard and ready for play.

Otherwise, I would say the Chaos Legions and Cult Marines. There is a lot of freedom to work in this space regarding modelling and rules. Another bonus is that combinations of infantry models (which can be found cheap) can be used to fill out the core formations.

It also depends on how much time you want to spend with greenstuff etc.

If I came from the 40K side, I would probably go for something I'd never gotten around to in 40K. Most Epic armies play very similar to the general idea of the different races, so you really cannot go wrong if you like the general idea of a particular race In the end, you will have to enjoy your list's playstyle to gt the most out of any army.

There is an armylist for Sisters of Battle, under the Inquisition umbrella. Look for Ordo Hereticus under Other Forces. As a force, they are very versatile, able to fight alone, get inquisitorial help plus inducted Imperial Forces. The lack of models (although about to be redeemed) also means a lot of freedom.

Good luck choosing and once you go 6mm, you will never really look back,

You mentioned OGBM as a side project and your preference of modelling over spending, so why not run with that and scratch build an OGBM force?

The basic ork gargant shapes are easy to build up or you could come up with more imaginative designs. Some people on here have also made great scratch built stompas from thimbles i seem to remember.

I know, I remember your threads...

I've actually got a scratch built Kustom Gargant (boom type) sitting next to me.

Maybe a spread of Orks as there's a good few lists out for them, with a large side helping of Lost and the Damned.

mass infantry armies that play differently, with plenty of opportunity to scratch build vehicles and demons.

Thnaks guys.

Thimble Stompa's

They were mine, a little depressing reading back as I obviously got distracted by something else and totaly forgot about carrying on this fledgling OGBM army. Will have to dig them out and see what else I can bodge together.
