Jervis says that the IG superheavy tanks will be resized in E:A to match the sized of the Forgeworld minis. What will you guys be doing with your old models?

The new ones will probably look better but I am not willing to trash my existing SH tanks and buy 12 new ones.

Well, I have the (even smaller) Space Marine era SH tanks and will continue using these. The new ones will probably look better but I am not willing to trash my existing SH tanks and buy 12 new ones. | Mine will all remain. I'll keep the companies as seperate versions, but the overall forces will probably be mixed. I dont see a problem with it.
My desert IG ("Speed IG") will have a Stormhammer company from SMII era and a Stormblade company from FW.
The size difference is such that the Stormblades will need a whole extra warmaster base in order for them to not overhang their bases, but it shouldnt matter!
Whilst I havent followed your link, I believe it was also a thread which I commented in. Jervis said that they will (at some stage) upsize them about 33% to be more in scale with the Leman Russ & Land Raider. It was me who commented that this should bring them in line with the FW minis. Thats not a definite aim of theirs, just my projection on size comparison. If anything, 33%will make them bigger than the FW ones!

Will keep mine, but will probably get some new ones too, because I think they will look better, and I need some updated painting on the SHs

Hi!
Not a problem as I see it. Size discrepancies have been a staple of the epic line since as far back as I can remember.

Yeah all my stuff is different sizes. It is part of the flavor of the game, the fact that some of the equipment is really old, and that the Imperium is like the Soviets in the respect that they never throw anything away.

As most of us have said before, the size thing won't be a problem.

Well as I currently have no Superheavy tanks, I was going to go FW all the way! But with JJ wanting to make them bigger, then maybe I will get some of his as well!
I remember him saying something about trying to stop scale slippage, so bigger models is the opposite of this, and wasn't going to re-do the Thunderhawk. I wish he would make up his mind!
Cheers
Chris

..Hmm. I think I'll just be going for FW tanks for the foreseeable future due only to price really- they are only ?6 apiece for a superheavy now, compared to ?7 for GW's metals most recently....

I have 10 of the E40k metal IG SHT's, don't think I need anymore. I don't think the scale difference is a problem, people around here use stuff from SM to the latest FW models.

Agreed Marko, I have not seen anyone dump their G/W for F/W or vise versa ! Generally speaking F/W and G/W tanks are compatible on the board. Look at the size differences in the French, German, British and Russian AFVs of 1940, the size range is amazing ...

With GW tanks, you could say that they are built from the same STC, but due to good/poor local materials, some Forgeworld find it nescesary to increase/decrease the size of the SH tanks.
Just a bit of fluff from me!

During WWII, Soviet T-34/76 tanks, produced in different factories, had slightly different turrets, in some cases ... it happened !

As long as players use the counts as rule sensibly, I can see many OOP models still beign used. I saw a guy the other week in my GW store using some stormblades as shadowswords and using a Leviathan to transport his regimental command!
As L4 points out, throughout history many tanks have had variation to their basic designs, with different turrets etc., and this is happening now with Epic:A, look at the Armageddon Basilisk next to the FW Basilisk. Same tank, different look....
Cheers
Chris
