Hi guys,

Came on here to post my planned Ork list for OW12 and get your advice as it's my first tournament, only to see McMullet has done exactley the same thing - so apologies if you end up having to repeat anything for my benefit!

I've got the bulk of the list decided, but can't decide on the final couple of detachments - this is where you come in!

Won't comment myself yet but it looks like OW12 is the should be renamed ORK WAR 12...there's 3 of us with greenskins alone so far!

I think the trend started with Britcon!

Ok, personally I find normal gargants too fragile for my all ahead tactics :)

Otherwise I use a hell of a lot more flakwagons. I would also urge you to consider a 6 strong fighter bomber squadron. They pretty much always get through and if there is a guard/deathstrike player, this could be a good thing! Still you give up an activation...

Likewise with Orks trading activations for big formations is rarely a bad choice, unless that activation is a vehicle for the special weapon.

Of your options I'm finding the big blitz with supas nigh compulsory. You can double turn one and place bms over a cluster of enemy formations and mess up their activations.

My config for blitz brigades is always 2 flak out front to take casualties, 1 zap in the middle and one gun wagon at the back to take the bm when you try and sustain.

I would question adding the big guns to the boyz mob. You cut their move down to 10cm and boyz are bst when doubling. Big gunz are best starting the game on overwatch!

With that in mind if you were going to make a few small alterations I would go with (note I'm trying to resist simply saying you should take one of my favoured Ork lists :) )

Note multiple threats are always good. So instead fo just one WE mob, 2 are probably better and if untouched can mutually support.

This last chap sits on an objective and garrissons on overwatch. Anyone trying to double - zap, blow away a transport while its loaded, and so on. I like to use two.
Sadly this makes you 5 points over, so you would have to make changes (drop a fighter, have a 5 strong squadron and get another flakwagon?) but its hopefully shows you a rapidly moving assault army.

The problem with it of course is the gargant can't keep up! But don't let that deter you :) (You could swap it for 2 more mobs in battlefortresses! :) )

How do you intend to use teh gargant? I like aggressive great gargants personally, can't abide hanging about on the blitz trying to sustain.

Shouldn't that be Open Waaaagh 12? :p

As you'll find in a couple of weeks, I'm as much of an Epic noob as you'll find at a tournament so I can't lend much advice - though I do find the big blitz with 2 soopaguns to be very handy. As Chris says, that first turn zoom to put BMs on multiple units is very handy, and whilst you need 5s or more likely 6s to hit everything, a hit is a kill and 2 templates means plenty of dice to roll.

Ditto.  However, my first choice of dual Supa Stompa list doesn't have all the required models yet, and my Great Gargant isn't painted so the normal Gargant is kinda in there by default....!

The intention with this mob is to sit on my Blitz and protect it. I've found in the past that a small Gunz Mob is too easily pushed off it. (that and me wasting the Overwatch Zzap shot on something meaningless a mile away, despite MoK's Landa sitting off-table with "I'm going for your Blitz" pretty much written down the side...  :whistle: )

Honestly? Not sure...
In the past I've always rumbled forwards in support of a pair of Big Warbands on foot.  However as I'm going down a different route with this list I'm undecided on the big fellas use. Most likely driving forwards and forcing people to avoid or (more likely) deal with.

Back to the drawing board...

Yes it rely's on the enemy bunching stuff too close together behind terrain (or in it!) and your large combined double move and range. Remember though you can put the second template anywhere, including wrapping it around into areas you can't see.

BUt the second template DOES have to cover as much of the target formation as possible too; in effect both are ONE larger template that behaves a little oddly!

Orks are the only army to not have a support allotment.

The following list is perfectly legal.

Or, switch out a Gargant for 13 FighterBommas in any number of groupings of 3-9.

It was something I found really weird in my initial Ork Development. All other armies had the 1/3 restriction.

Pretty sure there's always been a 1/3rd limit for orks too...

Well, colour me pink and call me a 'oomie.

I blame the IMO poor formatting of the initial rules on that. Rather than my ability to RTFM.

Though I do notice that the NetEA list lumps the Kroozers into that allotment (the initial restriction was Aircraft and Gargants only).
