Turn 1 the strike cruiser manages to cover the cobra and guardians in waveserpents. Sadly only 1 waveserpent and 2 infantry die.

The Warhound killed 2 falcons, breaking them, then survived the fire of the cobra, the fire of the gaurdians and the assault of the vipers with support from both the former with 1 dc left. Since I had expected it to die in the eldars 1st activation I was pleasantly surprised and returned it to its start position.

Lander with death company and scouts survived cap and flak with the loss of 1dc, wiped out the guardians.

The game now is on pause - bets will be taken on the eventual result!

Eldar (to be properly filled in when the army list link is repaired so I can figure it out!)

All the NetEA Eldar armies can be found in the Army Book DRAFT documents in the Rules Amendments forum

Oh I see they are strat 4 now, that will help with turn 2 :)

That's a typo... mentioned in the thread... supposed to be SR5.

The Black Guardian Warhosts might have to go up a bit in points.

Game ended end of turn one as the Eldar felt they faced an untenable position.

Rest of turn one resulted in the loss of the nightwings and cobra, the latter exploding and taking a Rhino with them, leaving them with 1 guardians/waveserpents, 1 falcons, 1 guardians in webway, 1 vypers and 1 swooping hawks with 3 broken falcons getting ready to rally.

The marines had lost 3 rhinos and abandoned one stand of tactical marines as well as a dc off each lander, one of which had stayed on the board to shoot up the surviving nightwing after the thunderbolts killed the other two.

Another typo in the NetEA thingy, should they (black Guardians) be listed as 1+ init?
Also Matt said the Seer council was Black Guardian only, but no mention is made of that anywhere in the NetEA thing as well.

If you are upping costs I would suggest making the SC 75 points (as its a replace not character) and making the spear of khaine free.

Facing such an all or nothing airforce I reckon the Eldar should have castled and milled the marines out of their first three activations, forcing daring air assaults drops and what not.

Any suggestions for marine army list changes?

Eldar wise I would suggest the following tweaks tot he above list, upping activation count and having a few more odd bits of kit. I am a believer in vampires and guardians as a cheap way of getting supporting fire into the right spot of the table, however few others are.

000 Avatar
050 Wraithgate
150 Wraithship (to mess up marines since you are strat 5 as well)
300 Nightwings
200 Vampire
200 Guardians, 3 heavy weapons, 3 support platforms (Wraithway or blitz guard depending on opposition and table)
400 Black Guardians in Waveserpents (BTS)
200 Black Guardians (vampiring)
+100 Seer Council
250 Cobra
250 Cobra
250 3 falcons, 2 firestorms
250 3 falcons, 2 firestorms
200 Swooping Hawks, Exarch
200 Vyper Squadron (I don't like Wipers, hell I'd prefer another vampire or 2 lots of scouts)

Another list to try would be a stormserpent one, relying on the 2 retains with 3 1+ init formations to do the damage?

Any thoughts TRC? :)

I don't know if I would bother with black guardians, might just try for the regular Eldar popcorn air assault list, this time with crunchy strat 5+.

Still better players than I could no doubt do something with 3 activations at 1+, possibly involving stormserpents.

Would probably make Black Guardians 1+ (a comment on army selection not init).

Would always take the annoying 4 hawk formation.

well, in my defense, I haven't played much against an air drop army and certainly not against someone as experienced as TRC, so my apologies if I sounded a bit miffed. Was having a crummy day (cold, lots of laundry, two very grumpy children etc) so this was kind of the topping on the cake :)

definitely agree on the castling (though the orbital bombardment on corner deployment made me a little wary of clumping together) - I have brought down a thunderhawk before with a couple of firestorms - and there was enough AA there to make you wary. Also, interesting comments on leaving the SC at the back, makes a lot of sense and a potent blitz guard too. I'd also take cobras as singletons, though I've never used them before so I just wanted to try them out. Still, plenty of ideas for next time, Friday afternoons particularly :)
