I think a few Landers would have helped a great deal against this force.

How do you feel Landas would've helped, Blish?  This testing is supposed to be "blind" in that the non-Tyranid army isn't tuned to specifically fight a "Rage of Raveners" list.

I also believe forces like the Tyranid force above are fairly easy to crush.

Could you expand on this, beacuse I don't see an "easy" answer for dealing with 15 enemy activations.

Chroma, would the idea of synapse per 2 common work too to prevent too pop-corny lists in addition to reduce the amount of % choices in list? It would prevent this one and the suggestions of TRC above.

So would having the lowest Synapse Group cost be 125 points, both for three Warriors or one Hive Tyrant; max of 8 Synapse formations at 3000 points.

I'm not sure about the "2 common" idea, I think that will greatly reduce Tyranid activations and, to me at least, purchasing the Brood creatures before you know how much Synapse you have just sits wrong with me.

I just find a one to two Landas are great. With the amount of AP shots(D6+3) and 1At they get are great.

I also try to have say 8boyz, 2Nobz and 4Grots in each Landa

Because the opponent tended to lead with the Raveners, using terrain to mask/give cover to the Warriors, clustering them to force barrage placement.  To move into a position to get a "clear" shot on Warriors would've meant pushing deep into Tyranid territory, with many other Tyranid activations ready to pounce.

Surely fighta bombers are your friend here.  With a total and complete lack of AA coverage from the nids surely the fightas had free reign of the battlefield and could approach the small swarms from behind to specifically target the TWs?

I agree that these types of popcorn army are not that hard to crush.  I've found that picking on one small fm till it's dead then moving onto another quickly re-balances the activation count, but yours has resilient fms that are much more powerful than the remaining, similar no of "Popcorn" fms.

Landas would have been useful because it provides the Orks the maneuverability to pick on and wipe out these small fms one at a time, while putting pressure on the back line and forcing the nids to fight on two fronts.  If done right, the victorious "Landed mobs" can also provide units to set up some really nasty crossfires and supporting fire.

I had two formations of four Fighta-Bommerz and my opponent would often keep the Warriors in cover; on some passes Warriors were killed on others only Blast markers were placed.

Certainly Warriors could be preferentially targetted via aircraft positioning, but each squadron will average about one (point 2, I believe) Warrior(s) per turn, which hardly puts a dent in 30 Warriors.  *laugh*  My planes killed 5 Tyranid Warriors over three turns, so, about right if considering Warriors occasionally in cover.

It was my Stompamob not firing for one turn that actually burned me the most; those attacks could've possibly netted me BTS and would've eliminated Tyranid activations.
