Summary
Freeks (BTS, T&H, Blitz) 3-1 (BTS)

Marines land in middle of enemy army turn 1. Many die. many Speed Freeks left. Marines learn about timing of drops.

Flipping fortress's kill many marines. Raise two rules questions!

Each assault I think was a draw after the first one. No AA made left easier for marines than it should have been. Probably prefer a different chapter for this tactic so can still get some thunderbolts (no air cover is the saddest things about BT's, I love my thunderbolts!).

Picture shows turn 1 after marines go first and hit the bottom left with the barrage and largely miss with the devestators, then retain with the first lander.

Forgot the army lists

Epic UK Black Templars
250 Devestators
200 Strike Cruiser
200 Thunderhawk
475 Terminators, Chaplain, Emperors Champion
350 Landing Craft
350 Landing Craft
250 Bikes, Chaplain
250 Bikes, Chaplain
350 Tactical - Neophyte, 4 rhinos
325 Tactical - Neophyte, 4 rhinos

Here is a pic of a flipping fortress, two flipped, wiping out tacs pretty much.

Following this the terminators were avoided and devestators wiped out by the orks. Its a learning experience for the marines!

End turn 3
Terminators failed to rally turn 2 and here get killed by skorcha.
Thunderhawk wipes out skorcha on blitz, killed by Ork air force.

Before anyone else points it out... the 'Uge Fortress Mob is actually 675 points, so umm sorry Chris my cut and paste skills failed me there and I guess I was over points ("its a fix!").

Corner deployment and orbital bombardment is a much better tactics on Vassal then IRL I think.  On a real table etc I would spend more time trying to hide/spread out my models, on vassal that's just too time consuming so I just spaced them out a bit and took it on the chin.  (Personally, I think its a bit of a cheap way of using the mechanic, its not becuase the Marines want to play corners, they just want the opponent to have a smaller area to deploy in to increase OB damage).

It was an odd game.  The first landing craft assault ended the first round with +2 to Orks (with just 1 point of damage on a couple of forts), TRC wins the roll by 2 and a second round ensues.  The forts then all started blowing up, with some amusing flip effects (well amusing for me, less so for the Tacs underneath).  The second LC assault ended the first round all square, and we also tie in the roll off, so it too goes to a second round, which the Marines won comfortaably.

But after that it the Marines couldn't do much.  The remaining Ork formations went after the Marine units that assaulted one by one.

I would like to post a record and see if anyone can beat it.  TRC's terminators passed 12 armour saves in a row (no MW or TK) anyone top that?
