Anyone know where I can find a high-resolution version of this piece of artwork?

Well the original is on the wall in the HR dept. in GW Lenton... but I suspect you were looking for a picture online. :)

I've browsed the web looking for a good shot a few times, and don't believe there's one commonly available.

I think my LGS has an old epic 40k poster on the wall that has a large version of that art on it. Perhaps you can dig up one of those?

Love him or hate him, I'm still stunned how Blanche ended up on the cover of most anything. :vD

I read somewhere (in WD, maybe?) that the idea behind the E:40k box art was that it was supposed to be the same central individual as was on the WH:40k 2nd Ed box, but much later in the marine's life.

Seeing that Hello Kitty box takes me back to the days of Portent.net and rec.games.miniatures.warhammer. I love how the wounded/dead Hello Kitty in the lower right corner has its eyes closed, and the dead froggy things have x'ed eyes.

And yet quite often did awful work. I can't stand the epic 40k box art.
2nd edition was alright and who doesn't like 1st edition? :) Say hello to my little, possibly image infringing, friend!

I agreed ... Blanche has a "unique" style ... :vD  And I still think the SM1 Box Art is the best.  Even if the SM in front looks like Bill Joel ...

Well, I believe he's still art director at GW; certainly he was for a long time. So it's not like he had to persuade anyone if he wanted to do a box cover.

Yep he's still there, painting everything in scratchy, demented red.
