The thing is, the sales of that ridiculously large Manta probably completely overshadow the sales of non-Aeronautica 6mm stuff.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if a *single* Leman Russ tank variant out-sold the EPIC stuff... 40k is *at least* an order of magnitude (if not more) larger than EPIC.

To be honest, it makes sense to me that FW would stop making Epic miniatures--GW should never have split its market by supplying the same units (eg Basilisk, Manticore, super-heavies, etc) through both their GW and FW channels. When it got to the point that buying the superior (ostensibly uber-niche) kit from FW was cheaper than buying the same units from GW, it really got stupid from a business perspective.

What I'm looking for now is improved support for Epic via the GW channel--that being, increasing the range to allow for the Tau and GK units that have been lost--and provision of the superior models (eg the newer FW Warhound model, albeit in metal, rather than the old Warhound model currently sold).

What are the chances, do you think?  ;)

If someone can give me "the good oil" on this issue, I would like to post about this situation BoLS to clear up any misconceptions. (Feel free to PM me if you would rather keep such a discussion on the DL. Confidentiality is assured.)

Maybe we'll get lucky, they'll come to their senses and at least do one last run of models.  They could even contact previous buyers of Epic models via e-mail about the event (but who am I kidding, they can't even respond to e-mails).

I'm sitting on 2/3rds of an IG army and 2/3rds of a Tau army...  this is what I get for moving on to the next shiny thing before finishing prior projects.  I guess I have more beer money now?

No - everything that has been discontinued is gone - until the results of the viability review. Or more realistically for good.

As Mephiston said I can understand the business sense behind this move but I do think it would have been far more profitable for GW (both in terms of goodwill+financially) if they had said - we are stopping the epic line and we are doing one last run of models. There are X of each and once they are gone they are gone. I don't doubt everything would have gone.

When I made my order at midday yesterday the guy i spoke to had personally taken over £8000 in epic sales that morning.(not all mine )
