I got carried away and have spent £950ish on epic today, and the financial reality of that is steadily sinking in while I tiredly and depressedly stare into my pint in the pub (time to kill before friends turn up). I've been lucky to have a small inheritance, that's now mostly spent, but was meant to be trying to starting saving up the very many grand I need to go back to uni again and get my life going somewhere worthwhile rather than the soul-destroying tedium that has been my working life these last year, ho hum oops.

Hope Epic playing and these forums keep up, or that'll be one hell of a wasted cost!

As for the Battlefleet Gothic ones:

Rest assured, however, that the Battlefleet Gothic range is, and
will continue to be, still available.

This could have one unintended positive effect - with the Epic range discontinued from FW, people will be forced to buy from the SG range perhaps resulting in a small increase in demand.

Short term, yes. Long-term, the shrinking of the range, making some armies far less viable (no Tau models, lots of Death Korps models gone) can only lead to a decline in the number of players and general level of interest in the game, which will eventually lead to a decline in sales from GW.

I think the "unintended positive effect" will be to drive the consumer to *other* companies' 6mm ranges...

I know I've been buying non-GW/FW models more now.

Hey, if he doesn't use some of the stuff he just bought, he just made an awesome investment... OOP Forgeworld Epic models will soon enough be hitting some impressive heights on eBay.

I will have to be talking to you about models you aren't using soon Glyn!
I made an order too today; a measly £65 in comparison!

Epic instead of university. that's pretty intense.

My down-the-line plans for an IG army have all but evaporated. Warhounds were the reason I wanted to start an army anyway. Now they're kaput, and the one cheapish source of chimeras is gone.

To date I've paid about $130 US for about 4000 points in eldar, including a Phantom and two superheavies. After my $20 budget to make the army a bit more competitive (I'll probably be visiting the trade forum soon), I think I'm going to put the wallet away for a while. It honestly seemed like the GW price hikes were giving this game a bit of a rejuvenation with players like myself, but I don't know anymore.

But, everything I have is unpainted and I still haven't even assembled the last of my fantasy army yet. Time to learn how to paint!

Well with the tau gone that's saved me a few quid so I can get other minis for other games.

Shame, but I can see the economic sense in this sadly.

Very dissapointed - I never got around to buying the FW warhounds... d'oh.

I'm abit annoyed that there was no notice... and I already blew my 600 quid tax rebate on shares :'(

Could result in GW doing something like they've done with Blood Bowl and the new Mighty Zug miniature they've just launched.

No. I believe this sculpt was done as an example for a job interview to show the skills of the designer/maker. They were so impressed with it that they decided to make it for the public release.

Blood Bowl is at least three times (if not more), bigger in popularity and support than Epic. Where as the Blood Bowl community and a/some companies showed GW that there was still money in the game, they seem to have decided to come back.

It is interesting to note however that GW did take the SG range (blood bowl anyway) out of production not that long ago and informed all retailers to buy up big as this was the last of the range. Then they came back and started selling stuff again. What this invariably did (as it seems) was increases sales of back-stock, and then allowed them to re-release their stock again without the back log of slow sales of stock taking up space...

Well while they are there I went ahead and bought enough of the heavy flamer variant chimeras to give my two infantry companies and fire support platoons chimeras. After looking it over I think it will be a pretty simple conversion to snip off the heavy flamer and put some plastic rod in place to make it a proper autocannon.

In a way, GW (and therby FW) are promoting other businesses or freelancers by not supporting their own games.

That's the spirit!

Sheesh Glynn - that's a good effort mate!  I'd love to see the wife's face if I did that!!

I've gutted to hear about this, but, like others have said, I'm sure we'll always find sources to get our 6mm stocks from.

Put my last min order in just now, but only a modest £60...

Cheers
Reedar
