And this was to be the second match today, but it's been postponed to later in the week.

I'm not exactly looking forward to this fight... but I want to see how it plays out!  *laugh*  The AMTL list was put together by my "list-breaker" friend... he laughed maniacally when he presented this list...

Well, that's certainly a min/maxed looking list... quite weak on anti-tank weapons, only 3 ground units to claim objectives with, but with a leader on each Titan, plenty of anti-infantry firepower and facing Orks of all enemies... it'll be interesting to see how this one plays out...

Well, depending on how quick the fight is, I'll probably bring another army against them.

With only one activation to use them, and only 60cm range on a slow platform, tank type targets should be safe from that Warlord until the moment that *they* decide to come into range... in fact your whole army should be relatively safe (as long as you have semi-decent AA to ward off all those stalling activations from the Thunderbolts) until the moment they chose to come into his  range... surviving once you've made that move is another matter of course, as he'll aim to stall as long as possible with the Thunderbolts, forcing you to move into range...


If I were playing against this army, I'd try and disrupt his inevitable placement of two objectives close together on the centreline with one of my own... he can't risk spreading his objectives out with that few ground formations...

Wow, that's an interesting AMTL list, to say the least. I agree he'll have a hard time defending/capturing objectives. I'd probably place mine as far apart as possible to make it hard for him to get Defend the Flag. Against Orks it'll be tough to get TSNP. And without anything speedy like Warhounds, capturing your Blitzkrieg will be next too impossible.

I don't know... three turns of doubling put the Warlord at my Blitz if he starts directly across from it... and depending on road conditions... *laugh*

I guess seeing a Titan Legion army with as many activations as my own is a bit daunting... even if most of them are "light" activations, they can still snip and snipe at my Boyz.

Probably get the game in tomorrow.

Roll off and AMTL chose long edge.

Roll off; AMTL places first objective.


Deployment:

Orks place the Gunzmob and Warband on overwatch with the Stormboyz also garrisoned. and the two Blitz Brigades in their vanguard.

Roll off; AMTL forces Orks to deploy first.

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: AMTL

Thunderbolt Squadron 1 goes on CAP.

Kult of Speed 2 doubles, hiding behind Hero’s Hill.

Reaver 1 doubles forward moving to cower… I mean, cover… preparing to unleash hell next turn.

Kult of Speed 1 doubles to a hidden position as well.

Reaver 2 advance to hide behind a building, stoking the fires of its Inferno Guns.

The Big Gunz suddenly drop overwatch to double and take a shot at Reaver 2 and actually hit, dropping a Void Shield.

The Fighta-Bommerz then dive down, losing 2 craft from T-bolt 1’s interception, but manage to drop the three remaining Void Shields on Reaver 1.

The Warlord then advances and unloads *sixteen* attacks at the Big Gunz who are partially in cover… and takes out a single Soopagun!  D’OH!

Blitz Brigade 1 makes a looping double to hit Reaver 1 and clip the Warlord as well.  Both Titans receive a single Blast marker.

Thunderbolt Squadron 2 needs confirmation from the Legate before they intercept the Fighta-Bommerz, who jink to safety.

Blitz Brigade 2 also makes a looping double to target Reaver 1… a single Supa-Zzap hits… and does 3DC damage, breaking the Titan!  WOOHOO!

T-bolts 3 ground attack the smaller Kult of Speed, taking out 1 Warbuggy.

The Stompamob doubles forward, moving through cover.

T-bolts 4 stands down with engine trouble.

The Warband makes a lateral double to the Ork left flank, mostly getting into cover.

T-bolts 5 also stands down with engine trouble.

The Stormboyz need the bellowing orders of the Warboss to get them to march across the battlefield to harry both Reavers.

Thunderbolts 6 strafes the Stormboyz… for a Blast marker…


End of Turn

All aircraft leave safely.

All Orks rally.

Reaver 1 FAILS to rally because of the nearby Stormboyz!

Strategy Roll: Orks

Full of vinegar, Blitz Brigade 2 doubles on Reaver 2… and place a Blast marker… dangit!

The Stormboyz then take a great leap forward to engage Reaver 2 with Blitz 2’s support.  In the first round, the Orks do 1DC damage and support fire drops 2 Void Shields… but the Orks lose *FOUR* Deth Koptas in the process!  Round 2 sees no damage done to the Titan, four Stormboyz crushed under foot and 2 more Void Shields dropped via support fire…



The Titan wins handily and completely disperses the remaining Stormboyz.

The Warhound then sustains fire on Blitz Brigade 1… unleashing *SIXTEEN* AT shots… and in a shocking display of Ork armour technology only 3 Gunwagonz are taken out!

T-Bolts 1 are ordered to do a ground attack to, at least, break Blitz Brigade 2… but they stand down and the Legate fumes but does not order them into the air.

Kult of Speed 1 doubles to one side of Reaver 2, catching it in a crossfire with Blitz Brigade 2.  They do 1DC damage, which puts *three* Blast markers on the Titan.

The Gunzmob also doubles, barely putting Reaver 2 in a crossfire with the Kult of Speed and does 1DC damage, which breaks the “mightyâ€Â

Strategy Roll: Titans on a tie!

Reaver 2 sustains fire on the Gunzmob, taking out 5 Big Gunz and 1 Soopagun.

The Warlord then sustains fire on the Stompamob, targeting war engines… and everything goes down the crapper as only the Supa-Stompa’s 2 Power Fields are taken down!

Blitz Brigade 1 doubles to fire on Reaver 1, placing a Blast marker.

The Fighta-Bommez dive down, losing 1 plane to the Warlord before… dropping one of Reaver 1’s Void Shields.

Reaver 1… marshals, hammering Kult of Speed 2, cooking 2 Bikes and 1 Buggy, breaking them.

The Stompamob doubles forward the Supa-stompa moving forward to Ork Objective 1 while the Stompas flank left to secure AMTL Objective 1.  (The 20cm “coherencyâ€Â

Thanks for the report, looks like the AMTL player got more than he barginned for with only three formations on the table. I wold have grouped the AMTL T&H objectives together to give the warlord something to go towards.

Well, that was my opponent's intent, but my placement of Ork Objective 1 kind of stymied that due to no being able to place his second objective within 30cm of any other objectives.

And my opponent's rolls where a lot of crap... not even breaking 50/50 with the *sixteen* 4+ attacks from the Warlord... even when sustaining fire into cover!

By "averages", the Orks should've been a *lot* more beat up.  A single failed save on the part of the Stompas in that last volley of flights would've forced a fourth turn.

Aye that was what I expected when I posted above, that I'd try and disrupt his placement of objectives close together by putting one of my own nearby, but he didn't try for that which meant his Titans had to (theoretically) spread out even further, becoming isolated without Scouts to screen them.


I know the chap was trying to break the list by using lots of aircraft and some theoretically optimised Titan loadouts, but it doesn't look to have been a success.

As I theorised with Chroma last night on IM, I reckon that most conventional army builds would tear this one apart... heck even a more conventional *AMTL* army list would probably take this list on and win handily.
