Attempting another "EPIC: Siege" game this evening.  My opponent has sent me his army list, so I'll be posting the armies now.

Decided to take it up to 4000 points to see how things go.

Popcorn heaven or hell.

Seriously though, irrespective of the armour or weapons carried, 4x fighters per formation is OTT (IMHO), but we shall see. On the other hand there seems to be a surprising lack of long-range artillery.

Given the number of fighter formations, why did you also go for the AA batteries?

To protect my aircraft, actually... *LAUGH*  60cm AA umbrella means most interceptors will be flying into it to tag my fighters.

Battlefield:

4x6; Alaitoc chose corner deployment.

Fortifications:

Trenches, bunkers, and scattered gun emplacements, and all three objectives on the Mossinian side.  (Got reminded after my last game that trenches/bunkers *don’t* have to be contiguous and be scattered about.)

Deployment:

Wraithship declared for Turn 1, with Orbital Bombardment.

Alaitoc kept both Pathfinder Troupes in reserve and put the Aspect Warrior Troupe and Windriders 2 in the Webway.

Alaitoc garrisoned both Ranger Warhosts on overwatch.

Mossininians only garrisoned the Heavy Tank Platoons, both on overwatch. (My opponent then said, “You cad!â€Â

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Alaitoc

The Revenant Titans leap forward on a double, taking a Blast marker from Heavy Tanks 1, and then return fire which takes out *four* Ragnaroks, breaking the rebel armour.

The Night Spinners then get to weaving on a sustain fire targeting Heavy Tanks 2… placing 3 Blast markers.

The Nightwings then… stand down.

The Firestrike Launchers let loose with a sustained fire order on the Revenants… and drop 2DC from the lead Titan.

Howitzer 2 then sustains fire on the Night Spinners, catching Windriders 1 in the blast as well.  One Night Spinner is trashed, breaking the formation and 2 Jetbikes go down in flames as well.

Swords of Vaul Yellow attempts to march down the road… and fails, moving slowly forward.

Howitzers 1 then sustains across the board catching all the Falcons of Swords of Vaul Red under a single template… and places a *single* Blast marker!

SoV Red responds by popping-up, doubling forward, and eliminating another Ragnarok from Heavy Tanks 1.

Ranger Warhost 1 pops-up their Falcons and doubles forward to fire on Light Tanks 1, taking out 2 Siegfrieds.

Infantry Company 1 sustains fire with Thudd Guns on Ranger 1… placing a Blast marker.

Windriders 2 double out of the Wraithgate and target Light Tanks 1… take out one of them, and break the survivors.

PDF Fighters 1 loops around to hit, and eliminate, the Night Spinner Troupe.

Windriders 1 marshals, moving forward, and clearing all Blast markers.

AA Battery 1 goes on overwatch.

Ranger Warhost 2 doubles forward, hugging cover, and eliminates Heavy Tanks 1.
PDF Fighters 2 ground attack Windriders 2 and place a Blast marker on them.

The Guardian Warhost marches forward to take position in the Trenches and Bunkers!

Light Tanks 2 double around to fire on Windriders 2… placing a Blast marker.

The Wraithship shows up and drops a perfectly targeted Orbital Bombardment… on some empty Gun Emplacements!  The second template catches Snipers 2 for a single Blast marker… and now the Eldar sit on their delicate thumbs…



Infantry Company 2 sustains fire on the Guardians, targeting things not in cover… and places a Blast marker.

PDF Fighters 3 ground attack the Guardians… taking out 2 Wave Serpents and a Guardian.

Sniper 1 doubles into cover and fires on the Guardians… they score a single hit… which takes out the Farseer!  *BOOM* Headshot!

Infantry Company 4 marches to grab some Bunkers and Trenches.

Snipers 2 marches into the Cathedral.

Infantry 3 goes on overwatch.

AA Battery 2 has a bit of trouble, but also goes on overwatch.

The Regimental HQ doubles up and fires on Ranger Warhost 1, taking out a Falcon.

And Heavy Tanks 2 stay on overwatch...


End of Turn

Flying through a hail of flak, PDF Fighters 1 and 2 both lose 2 planes.

Most Eldar rally, but there are still Blast markers out there.

Light Tanks 1 fails to rally for the Mossinians.

Turn 2

Both Pathfinder Troupes reveal themselves… and each get a Blast marker!



Strategy Roll: Tie… Mossinians!

Howitzers 2 sustain fire on the distant Swords of Vaul Red… and take out 2 Firestorms and 1 Falcon, breaking the Troupe.

The Regimental HQ attempts to initiate a combined assault with Sniper 1… and an argument breaks out… and the Supreme Commander can’t even get a word in… so, it fails to take place… the Regimental HQ moves sheepishly forward… *sigh*

The Revenant pilots are laughing so hard at this they fail to advance and only move forward… *LAUGH*

AA Battery 2 can just see Pathfinder 1… so sustains fire with a single gun… that kills a Pathfinder and breaks them!

Ranger 1 attempts to advance… and fails, regrouping to clear all Blast markers.

Howitzers 1 try to sustain fire… and fail… lobbing a shot at the broken Pathfinders 1, causing one unit to flee.

SoV Yellow pops-up and doubles on a hit and run to take out a single Rapier from the Reg HQ.

AA Battery 1 can just see the damaged Revenant… they sustain fire and eliminate it, breaking the other Titan, which stands its ground.

Light Tanks 2 then engage Windriders 2 in a firefight… it goes for two rounds, with four Siegfrieds fried, and a single Jetbike knocked down… and the Eldar “snake-eyesâ€Â
