In the E:A Handbook 2008, it shows that Eldar Dark Reapers have AP5 only when shooting. Is that a typo? Shouldn't they be AP5/AT6, like Marines missile launchers?

They don't have Krak missiles, only 2 S5 shots at AP3 in 40k I believe. That's pretty much AP only in Epic, usually it's S7 or higher for AT.

Yep, marines get AT6+ for the krak missile option.

That's entirely correct, so it makes sense in Epic that Dark Reapers are utilised against infantry and not vehicles.

Groov3r: Perhaps you were thinking of Rogue Trader/Second Edition 40K rules, and the old Space Marine rules where they were armed with Missile Launchers?

An Exarch can take an Eldar Missile launcher as an optional upgrade (or the other Shuriken weapon) but the normal Dark Reapers are armed with their own specific anti-personnel only weapons and have been for a couple of rules editions.

True, but it's highly debatable whether it's of any tactical use to do so, thus I feel it's right not to reflect this option in the unit's stat line in Epic.

I agree and don't think it should be reflected in epic, was just mentioning for completist's sake that the option was there.

Well, I did make a list of "Shrine Specific Exarchs" that could be toyed with.

A sensible note here is that 2*AP5+ is also pretty decent vs your general Light Vehicles, just as is the case with Dark Reapers in 40k.  :)

hmm, gotta admit that this is something that's always put me of dark reapers. Sure, they're not bad (particularly against guard), but the other aspects are so much better. They also seem more suitable to a fire line/ static defense style of play, rather than the fluid assault style that suits the other Aspects.

I have found that it's harder to keep Dark Reapers alive than other Aspects, since Eldar Eldar armies don't really seem to be able to create a solid fire line in EA.  Perhaps ways of keeping Dark Reapers alive could be incorporated into an Eldar Tactics Guide which has been mooted in this thread.

In my Ulthwe armies I often field this formation:

Aspect Troupe - 435 points
4 Dark Reapers
4 Falcons

That's eight AT shots, eight AP shots, and four you can pick and choose... great against mixed formations or LVs.

I frikkin love Dark reapers!  Nothing says, "Die Mon-Keigh scum" quite like a vampire full of the little fellas.

A favourite of mine is to land in supporting fire range of a fm i want dead and let rip with 16 AP5+, 4 AT4+ and 1 AT5+ shots then engaging with some jetbikes/swooping hawks.  10x FF3+ supporting fire attacks is not to be sniffed at.

Against the right opponent, the reapers on their own are more than capable of ripping a fm to shreds with an air assault.  In one game i played against a friend's french squat list, first activation, i clipped 3 intermingled fms (2x bretheren and 1x Gyrocopters) with a dark reaper air assault and beat the tar out of all 3 of them, thinning them massively and sending them running for hills, crippling a flank and giving me a big activation advantage.

In another game i air assaulted a Chaos armoured comp fm, and hit and ran into the cover of some woods, emerging next turn to shoot the snot out of a fm of terminators + oblits and breaking them.

I've had success running them in wave serpents too, as this adds mobility and armour (Put the wave serpents at the front when you engage and watch your opponent cry).  Shifting an enemy fm off of an objective/tactically important terrain feature and then following up into the cover they've just vacated with a fm of dark reapers is immense.

Dark reapers are the shizzle IMO.

Yep have worked ok for me in Wave Serpents and Vampires, though mixing in a few Dire Avengers is always tempting. I tend to like mono hosts though.
