Quote (Jimbo @ 17 2003 Oct.,07:00) | Though I am sure Taz and Legion 4 are quite right that landing in a hot LZ is tactically a mistake, doesn't mean it doesn't make a great game!
One of the things I like about Epic is that it allows me to play games which have a cinematic feel to them (as opposed to a realistic feel).
So though I know that a force landing in a hot LZ shouldn't happen, doesn't mean I will never use my Ork landing craft against a fortfied Imperial Guard beach! | I totally agree with you- my comment was in accordance with L4's SoTR
Oh yeah...Ride of the Valkyries stuff is great to play. Thats why one of my ongoing (read stalled) projects is the "Saving Guardsman Ryan" Amphibious Assault scenario

Well if you read both my posts here you may notice that I intimated that you try a Forced Entry scenario, "Who Dares Wins", etc., etc. ! ? ?However, I won't land out in the open in front of anyone's guns ! ?No matter what army I'm playing ! And no matter how I've been inserted, rubber boat, LCM, Amphtrac, PCF, Chopper, or parachute, it was always cinematic ! ? ?We even had speakers rigged on our Hueys playing "Flight of the Valkyries" as we inserted into the Central American jungles ... now that's entertainment ! ?

Indeed it is!
I once drove a Destroyer into a 5" gunfight with "Heart Of Oak" blaring over the Main Broadcast intercom.
Military life is made bearable by such moments...

Just thinking..... L4, Tas and members, has anyone given any thought to writing down tactical wisdom ala Index Astartes a so called Epic Codex Imperialis, Chaotica etc, etc. for whatever force one my field. Like FMs issued to the troops.

Primarch did some great pieces a few years back that are on the Incoming! website, check under articles for individual articles and issues for the whole issue.

You mean the tactical articles netepic? I dont remember which ones I did, I know there are some titan articles and perhaps strategy articles for some armies.

Titans and Chaos as I recall
I can supply battle reports with debriefs and army selection for Marines and Chaos if they are needed for the tactical books.
Would be nice if we could compile some for Epic:A as well.
Perhaps Cybershadow and I could get together for some games and we could do it as a joint website ventre project for Epic:A?

Hi!
It would be great if different proponents of the epic versions could make tactical articles for each version of epic.
That way everyone could find use in them.

It would be of great use to lots of people, but the question must be asked, could CS survive a night at your place Tom? I have memories of the live action comic books flooding back...
Cheers

This would be great, and I would certainly be interested. I think that I could survive, I have had my share of interesting evenings! Besides, I dont like so far away, so with luck I wouldnt have to endure the experience.
Just let me know when you are around, Tom.

Yep, me too, I hope to get in a few games at my local GW, so I could contribute as well, if you need it.
Cheers

Good good, what we need is a tactical database of units, a breakdown per unit per game system - we have this already incorporated as part of the new EPICentre (just inactive). Was trying to build a weapons database, but a unit breakdown would be better.
We also need race specific tactics.
Even if you can only submit tactics for one unit it is better than nothing.
What do you guys think?
