I like putting my metal where my mouth is, and there's been some discussion about the Power of Pylons, so I thought I'd give some Pylon-spam armies a go against various opponent.

This will be the first fight, hope to post the conclusions this evening.

Well, if there's any army that's going to stick it to the Pylons, that's it.  4 Pods will probably break every one of them unless you do some freaky placement.

With both armies potentially entirely off the board on Turn 1 and the possibility of marines saturation bombing the DZ, this might be one of the rare instances where teleporting in the Pylons might work.

Well... that was quick... I'll be able to get Turns 1 and 2 up quite quickly... be patient for the remaining turns...

Battlefield:

4x6; Marines chose edge deployment

Deployment:

Marines keep everything in reserve, with the two Tactical and Devastator Detachments aboard the Strike Cruiser (cleverly disguised as a Landing Craft!), the Assault Detachments, one each, in the Thunderhawks, loitering, and the Terminators ready to teleport.  Marines plot Orbital Bombardment and Drop Pod targets and declare “Turn 3â€Â

Necrons have no activations.

Thunderhawk 1 stands down.

Turn 2

All five Pylons (appearing as Chaos Land Raiders!) phase in, one off each objective except the Marine Blitz, Pylons 2 and 5 hit some static on the way in and each receives a Blast marker.



Strategy Roll: Space Marines… who again hand it over to the Necrons.

Pylon 1 goes on overwatch.

Thunderhawk 1 stands down.

Pylon 2 goes on overwatch

Thunderhawk 2 stands down.

Pylon 3 goes on overwatch.

Marauders stand down.

Pylon 4 goes on overwatch.

Pylon5 *tries* to go on overwatch, sparks, and breaks… *sigh*

End of Turn:

All Necron formations rally.

Yeah, it's almost too bad the "space ship" has to be on the board... a completely empty table would've been incredibly hilarious!

Turn 3

Marines *completely* forget to teleport in their Terminators… DOH!

Necrons teleport in four Monolith formations in complete safety, all over the battlefield, while the Obelisk Phalanx takes 2 Blast markers on arrival.



Strategy Roll: Again Space Marines… and again it’s handed to the Necrons.

Pylon 5 finally gets itself into overwatch.

With a loud fanfare, the Strike Cruiser arrives!  (And this is were it is realized that the Terminators haven’t been placed… *laugh*  The plan was to place them at the Marine Blitz as “baitâ€Â
