Played this fight out in October, but just found some of the missing notes; just an attempt at taking some of the "standard" armies out for a spin.

Tried some units I don't usually take with the Eldar and my friend did his normal "armour-heavy" thing.

Marines kept the Terminators in reserve.

Biel-Tan kept the Aspect Warhost and the Windriders in the Webway.

Marines garrisoned the Devastators and Scouts on overwatch.

Turn 1

Eager to strike a decisive blow against the xenos, the Terminators appear in prime position to achieve an early Break Their Spirit goal and…



Strategy Roll: …Biel-Tan goes first!

Realizing they might not be long for this world, the Voidspinners sustain fire on the distant Tactical 1 Detachment, catching the Whirlwinds in their webs as well.  Three Tactical Marines, two Rhinos, and two Whirlwinds are torn to shreds. (My opponent had never faced Eldar artillery before, because I never field it!  He didn't realize it could reach so *far*!)



Guardian Warhost 1 doubles up to put the Terminators in a crossfire and place 1 Blast marker.



Then the Swords of Vaul… fail to engage.  They fire on the Terminators in crossfire and take one out… and begin to cry.

Not enjoying being the centre of attention, the hammered Terminators sustain fire on the Voidspinners, doing 1DC damage.

The Assault Detachment doubles up their flank, but has no one to attack.

Night Spinners 1 sustain fire on the Scouts, taking out 1 Rhino.

The Land Raiders then double down the road to fire on the Swords of Vaul, taking out 1 Falcon.

Night Spinners 2 responds by sustaining on the Land Raiders and actually takes one big tank out!

The Autarch has to double check her plan before exiting the Wraithgate to engage the Land Raiders.  The Devastators’ overwatch fire puts a Blast marker on them, but does no other harm.  They smash their weapons futilely against the heavy armour of the Land Raiders and the Landraiders try futilely to grind the nimble Eldar under their treads as neither side does any damage.  Feeling outnumbered, one Land Raider bogs down as the other two flee, the Eldar winning by “2â€Â

Turn 2

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Space Marines

Getting back to the mission, the Terminators sustain fire on the Voidspinners, knocking one to the ground and forcing the other to back off in disarray.

The Scout Detachment then sustains fire on Guardian 2, a sniper round taking out the Farseer and other attacks taking out a Heavy Weapon Platform.

Shaken by the death of a Farseer, Night Spinners 2 can’t even be moved by the words of the Autarch, so they merely move to a better position.

The Whirlwinds sustain fire on Night Spinners 1, but their counter-battery fire only places a single Blast marker.

The Assault Marines then jump forward to engage Guardian Warhost 2.  



They lose a single Assault Marine, chopping down 2 Guardinans and 1 Weapon Platform and then proceed to trash two more Guardians and 2 Wave Serpents!



Guardian Warhost 1 gets revenge by engaging the Terminators in a hideous firefight.  A Guardian unit and one Support Platform go down, but the Terminator threat is completely eliminated!



The Scorpion then advances, popping up to fire on the Tactical HQ and skewers two Rhinos.

The Aspect Warhost completes the triple activation by engaging the Tactical HQ… poorly.  A single Marine goes down, and the Autarch flits away from the fight, the only Eldar survivor!



The Devastators slog forward with an advance and take a long range shot at the Scorpion to place a Blast marker.

The Supreme Commander has to re-check his maps before the Tactical HQ double forward to also place a Blast marker on the Scorpion.

Night Spinner 1 returns fire on the Whirlwinds, also clipping the Devastators.  Each detachment suffers a loss, and this causes the Whirlwinds to break.

Tactical 1 doubles after the Autarch… and takes her out with massed fire.

The Falcons attempt to advance, but fail and move into better position.

The Nightwings fail to show up.

The Wraithgate hums open and the Windriders sally forth to engage Tactical 1.  Three Jetbikes go down in the process of flipping 1 Rhino, 1 Razorback, and the Hunter.  The Eldar win by “1â€Â

Turn 3

The remaining Farseer calls forth the Avatar… and He answers with a roar!



Strategy Roll: Space Marines

The Land Raiders double after the broken Voidspinner and take it out.

Tactical HQ sustains for on the Scorpion, doing 2DC damage and breaking it.

The Avatar then rushes forward to engage the Tactical HQ… He suffers 2DC damage and cuts down one Tactical unit, 1 Razorback, and 1 Rhino.  And the result is a tie!  The fight continues, and, like some kind of Orky standoff, everyone winds up dead in the end!  (Don’t think I’ve had that happen before!)



Night Spinners 1 then sustain fire on the Scouts, reducing one to soup and placing 4 Blast markers.

The Assault Detachment advances on the Swords of Vaul, placing a Blast marker with a Vindicator shot.

Night Spinners 2 attempt to advance, but fail, taking a weak, ineffective shot at the Land Raiders.

The Whirlwinds double to fire on the Swords of Vaul and the Hunter drops a Firestorm, breaking the troupe.

Again, the Nightwings stand down, getting new racing stripes put on their aircraft.

The Scouts double forward, spreading out to claim more territory.

Guardian Warhost 1 double to fire on the Scouts, clearing out two of them.

Tactical 1 doubles towards the Scorpion and takes it out!

The Devastators fail to advance, and snap off a shot at the Windriders, which causes one Jetbike to crash…

End of Turn:

The Windriders again fail to rally.

Score:

Biel-Tan 0 (none) vs Space Marines 1 (BTS)

Turn 4

No teleports… and my camera batteries die.  I put them in the charger, but it was fairly late so we continued the game.  I was able to take an End of Turn shot the next morning.

Strategy Roll: Space Marines

Feeling lucky, the Assault Marines rev their chainswords and engage Guardian Warhost 1.  The Vindicator is disintegrated and an Assault Marine goes down, but all that are left of the Eldar are two units of Wraithguard which back off in a confused state.

The Land Raiders then sustain fire on the Falcons, destroying two and breaking them again.

Night Spinners 1 try to do anything, but fail, and just regroup.  *SIGH*

The Whirlwinds sustain fire on Guardian 2, placing a single Blastie.

The Nightwing finally get their detailing done and take out one Devastator.

Tactical HQ double back to the Marine Blitz and drops another Jetbike from the Windriders.

Nightspinners 2 also fail their activation and just shoot to little effect on the Land Raiders.

The Devastators march, spreading out to secure both Eldar forward objectives.

Fearful and alone, Guardian Warhost 2 tries to think of something to do… fails… and breaks down crying…

End of Turn:

Jetbikes and Falcons rally for the Eldar… but it’s not enough!

It's even worse when He goes down to a crit, while surrounded by Eldar formations... spread the Blasties!  *laugh*

I *have* had the Avatar participate in/support four different assaults in one game, so, occasionally, He shines... and, hey, He's free!  *laugh*

The EOVs are impressive. I dig the teal color scheme as well. You're buildings are also very nice. I have two box sets worth of the old Epic 40K ruins that I never got around to painting. Seeing stuff like this helps motivate my lazy ass to actually get some work done!
