Love it, looks like it can take a whole detachment like a Thunderhawk but PLUS the Rhinos ... oh can only assist my Blitzkreiging!

Superb model- don't the Rhinos need a little heat-shieldng though?

Blimming good point!
Still.... perhaps it's void shields protect them? Or it has some kind of field? Or.... *desperately pulls at straws trying to find a reasonable explaination*

I like it ! ?But I guess anything slung-loaded on the outside will need to be covered by power fields, but it will have a limited internal cargo load. ?The original Dropship rules in SM1 had PFs for BEVs (Jervis's term in E-A rules). ?And in SM1 all cargo was internal. ?I have a mix of Dropships (8) including the limited release G/W model, GZG and others. ?I'll be glad to add this to the fleet ! ?

Drool, I want one, but would rather see the fully finished model before I get one.
Plus it is nothing like the sketch of one they had on the main Epic bit of the site....I liked that one as well!
Cheers
Chris

From Jervis on the Epic:A Playtesters forum:
The model isn't finished yet - Martin is going to add more surface detail, and needs to design an alternative set of clamps to hold Land Raiders. We'll probably make a third set of clamps for transporting Rhino variants with turrets such as Predators. The different clamps are something of a moot point, as I think most players will do landed versions of the model after the vehicles have moved off. |
I wanna see it finished now!
Cheers
Chris

There is bound to be a pic in the Epic:A rulebook, and some examples on the Fanatic site.
I think I will have to get more than one now they hold Land Raiders and Preadators as well!!!
And then I will release an SM orbital assault on my enemies! Drop Ships, Drop Pods and Thunderhawks!
Cheers
Chris

don't like it
seems too "fragile"
something meatier (read vehicles carried on the inside) would be better!
ah well in the minority again

..I do like it.. but I imagine this as being a step between the Thunderhawk and a larger dropship- that, like Jimbo says, carries vehicles on the inside- I just read Grey Hunter, and their surface-to-ship transports seemed more like a proper dropship to me...

Hi!
Seems Jimbo and I are sharing a "vulcan mind meld" since I echo his thoughts in this regards. I would have prefered a "bay" area where its cargo would go. Hanging rhinos on the outside like that begs to be shot out of the sky...

Again, the model is nice but somewhat impractical. G/W does it again ! In any event I'll buy one or two, and maybe even do a little conversion work !

Looks like a crossbreed between a Thunderhawk and a Klingon D-7.
As other people have pointed out, they'd only have had to fatten the hull to keep the Rhinos inside instead of outside. The engine section is nice, however, so I think conversion is the thing to do here. ?
