I understand that dramatic increases in raw material costs mean that price rises are inevitable. But in GW's vase it is the scale of the increases on top of the already high price of models, Let's face it GW models are not cheap compared to other comparable products in gaming industry.
I dont like GW bashing because of the positive things theu have done for wider gaming community, They got me and many others here hooked on the hobby that we love. But it is now over 3 years since I have bought any W40k/WFB figures from GW and over 2 years since I have bought any Epic or BFG. The only thing I have bought from GW is a handful of LOTR blisters. Instead I have switched to other gaming systems and minature lines, and bought a limited amount of Epic/BFG/LOTR figures second hand.
I was thinking of actually going out and buying some WFB Mortals of Chaos as reinforcements for my exisitng army- I liked the look of new Chosen and Warriors with great weapons. But at these prices I may have second thoughts and reduce or even cancel my projected additions.
As an accountant GW's business decisions make less & less sense. Such a steep price rise in what is a luxury good when many consumers are becoming ever more cost concious due to the credit crunch. I can see steeper fall in sales and more stores closing. Many gaming companies have moved to excusively or mainly online sales. If GW loses more of it's high street stores then it loses it's USP amongst gaming companies.
Oh well........
Cheers
