Deployment

The Sieger's objective was the flak gun near the refinery, their blitz to the rear of the Hive Group.
The Nid's objective was a BioTitan weapon on the road junction to the left of the fortifications. Their blitz was on the same road, to the rear of the Sieger's lines.

Siegemasters (Orange)

Garrisoned in the centre were Infantry Company Jaeger within fortifications and the Heavy Tank Platoon to their rear.

Deployed within the Sieger's deployment zone were the Rough Riders on the far left flank, next to Infantry Company Härtz & Arty Battery Alpha. The StormHammer Ardan's Shield was hidden behind the ruins to the left of the main road.
Infantry Company Gregor took position within the ruins on hill 101. They were backed up my the Siegefrieds and Arty Battery Bravo.
On the right flank, Regimental HQ Chenko deployed with the StormHammer Hammer of Paulus to their front and Arty Battery Charlie to their rear.

Tyranids (Purple)

On the left flank, just in the shadow of the Kravo Heights, the Dominatrix and her Hive Group of assault and bio-artillery spawn took up position.
Within the ruins in the centre Assault Group One deployed, just next to the small hill.
On the right flank, just opposite the refinery Assault Group Two deployed, also within cover of ruins.

Turn One

The Siegemasters won the initiative and immediately doubled-forward Inf Co Härtz, followed by Ardan's Shield. The HiveMind was most suprised at this flurry of activity within the Siegemaster lines and therefore marched Assault Group One forward to counter them.
With the Nids on the move, Arty Batt Aplha opened up on Assault Grp One, followed by more HE death from Art Batt Bravo. These barrages caused much damage, killing many Terma and Hormagaunts but also Tyranid Warriors.
To try and tempt the Sieger's with a more tempting target, the Hive Group doubled-forwards and opened fire on the dug-in Inf Co Gregor. Although Gregor were within the reinforced concrete of their bunkers, the still took casualties to the various xenos acids.

The Dominatrix's retribution fire is joined by the Exocrines.

Arty Batt Charlie now fired, once again specifically targeting the Tryanid Warriors in Assault Grp One. With this final barrage all the synapse creatures were cut down, leaving the swarm leaderless... With all the Imperial fire falling on their counterparts, Assault Grp Two now marched, taking up position near the Sieger's objective and also in sight of the heavy guns of the Ragnoraks which opened up on them causing many casualties.

The last of Assault Group One's Tyranid Warriors is cut down by murderous artillery fire.

RHQ Chenko now advanced to Hill 105 on the right flank, within spitting-distance of their objective, followed by Hammer of Paulus, which took up position with the Ragnaroks. The Rough Riders kicked their stirrups and marched up the left flank, posing a serious threat to Assault Grp One. This was further reinforced by the Siegfrieds who doubled and opened fire on the embattled swarm. The turn ended with a lot of casualties taken being respawned.

The RoughRiders head deep behind enemy lines.

Fear not! We did in fact manage to get in TWO turns, so I'll be posting the second turn soon. I would've done it last night but I was a tad drunk and it was nearly two in the morning!!!  :oh:

Hopefully I'll post it tomorrow.

Turn Two

To start the turn, two Lictor Swarms burst out of hidden deep behind enemy lines! One was on the right flank near Arty Battery Charlie and the other on the left near Arty Battery Alpha. Once again the Siegemasters won the initiative, which was to have dire consequences for the newly-arrived Lictors.

The StormHammer Ardan's Shield was the first unit to react - quickly spinning on it's axis and pelting down the road back towards the defense of Arty Battery Alpha. It came to a suprisingly sudden halt and then belched forth a heavy but inaccurate volley of HBolter and Demolisher Cannon fire. With the StormHammer not achieving much, Inf Co Härtz fixed bayonets and assaulted the Nid hunters, killing them all with the loss of only a few stands.

The Lictors on the left flank are destroyed

The Lictors on the right flank managed to assault Arty Battery Charlie, slaughtering the lot! In response, the Siegfrieds doubled back and fired off a flurry of multilaser shots which failed to cause any damage.

Now that the flank of the fortified Inf Co Jaeger was wide open, the weakened Assault Group One saw it's chance. With Hormagaunts and Raveners leaping across no-man's land they ripped into Jaeger, causing serious casualties and forcing them to withdraw. The Dominatrix also saw the weakening of the Imperial line and retained - advancing and pouring heavy fire into Inf Co Gregor who were in open ground. Gregor withdrew, leaving many dead and dying behind.

The Imperial line begins to crumble

With their centre caving in, the Imperial commander kept on pushing up the flanks. RHQ Chenko advanced over Hill 105, taking the objective and firing upon Assault Group Two. The Ragnoraks saw the risk Chenko was taking and supported the company by pumping more fire into the same Assault Group. As it turned out, the fire was rather ineffectual and the Nids were able to assault the RHQ and wipe them out to a man.

The RHQ takes a terrible gamble

In response to the fall of their supreme commander, Hammer of Paulus now doubled round the forest and fired upon the consolidating Assault Group, whittling down their numbers further. The Rough Riders were unaware of the slaughter occuring far from them and marched further, taking the blitz objective.

The Rough Riders take the blitz objective, but are too far away to help their embattled comrades

So that was the end of the game - it was at this point that my bro had to leave.

So this had us thinking - what might have happened had the game continued???

From the Sieger's perspective things were looking pretty grim - three Infantry Companies including the RHQ wiped out, an arty battery down and Nids storming through the centre of their lines led by a bloomin' great Dominatrix.

But then again, they did have a blitz objective and the Nids wouldn't be able to get to theirs. The Ragnoraks could have done some serious damage to the Assault Group that had just wiped out the RHQ, with the StormHammer rushing forwards to claim the objective. Concentrated arty, plus the Siegfrieds, Inf Co Härtz and StormHammer could have quite easily made the Nid objective a very hard place to be.

But that's the benefit of hindsight!  :vD

Victory Points

Siegemasters....1 Blitz

Tyranids........1 Take and Hold
               1 Break Their Spirit

A TYRANID WIN!!!
