I'm thinking of building a new Guard army and seriously considering a mix of DRM infantry and FW vehicles.

I don't really like the current IG greatcoat style from SG.

The DRM human infantry range looks pretty cool with the light infantry almost having the old Cadian look about them. You can also get proper snipers from DRM, not annoying OOP ratlings from ebay.

You could probably make decent proxy fire support squads from industrial or AT infantry, and the scouts or special forces could be storm troopers.

The only thing missing from the DRM range are proxies for ogryns.

DRM are just about in everything I've done (one way or another).

Love em'.

As long as any local tournaments that you might play in are not run by GW you should be fine (there was talk of a GW backed tournament in Australia later this year but they were kind of insisting on GW only armies...no point in me trying to attend then! :)  We'll see what happens).

It really depends on how much detail you want on your miniatures. The GW plastics are originally made as 3-ups ( or 5 ups or whatever they're called) and then scaled down when they cut the plastic mould. This means that then miniatures generally hold more detail than an original 6mm sculpt (unless your name is Will Hayes or Drassannar :D)
That said the DRM and EW ranges are very nice models so if you like the looks I say go for it :)

[CODE]  I use all 3
Companies' figures, even some Scotia and GZG (left of the Commissar's sword) in this pics as well. The first 3 are E/W and the last 2 DRM ...

It kinda varies....and if you don't like the GW Valhallans then I guess you wont like the DRM Standard Infantry either :)  .

If you want to make a Catachan army the DRM Jungle Infantry are very good, and look great with a few of the GW Catachans thrown in.  I've used them as Hive Gangers in a PDF army and I think they look super.  The Special Forces ones also have 1 good pose that blends with the Jungle troops for a bit more variety.

I will be seen as being biased, since I work for DRM, but regarding detail:

The earliest sculpts Doug had done are up there with the standard 6mm ranges in terms of detail. They're very good, but not outstanding.

The More recent sculpts however, Doug has upped the bar in his requirements and bob naismith matched the requests with some great work.

Having painted miniatures from every 6mm manufacturer I am aware of (and indeed, for a number of them), The Jungle troops for example, are among the best 6mm figures to paint from any manufacturer - I'd advise those miniatures to anyone! :D  They have individually characterful faces & you dont get that very often!  :confuse:

Anyway - blatent advert over - Please send us pics if you do go with DRM - we love seeing other's work on them!

What I liked about DRM was the variety in the poses of infantry. Made squads look more realistic when compared to the single pose GW Valhallans.

I have not yet seen E/W infantry in person yet. But from what I have seen on web they look nice too. So it is great to see the variety of 6mm figures out there. I am not currently painting any 6mm armies (my eyesight struggles with the infantry) but if I did I would use DRM figures without question.

Cheers

James
