Well, to celebrate the release of Raiders, a friend and I decided to play some Epic using armies from the supplement.

We only wound up getting one game in... we should've have gone out for Indian buffet, but it was still a doozy!

I'll post the armies now to give you something to salivate over!   :D

Turn 1

Four Monolith Groups and three Pylons all appear, encircling the Minervan forces in a noose of living metal; Pylon 1 and Monoliths 1 and 3 all receive Blast markers.



Strategy Roll: Minervans!

Assault Gun Platoon 5 sustains fire on Monolith Group 4 and places a single Blast marker.

Armoured Company HQ does the same thing and, scoring thirteen hits, destroy the Necron formation.

Pylon 3 spins up and sustains fire on the Super-Heavy Tank Company, doing 2DC damage and a critical to one Stormblade, which explodes? doing no damage to any of the other packed in Imperials.

Pylon 1 also comes on line and sustains on the Stormblades, doing 2DC damage and breaking the large tanks, which speed down the road, swerving around Pylon 2.

Armoured Company 1 advances on Monolith 1 and takes out its Obelisk and the broken Monolith moves closer to the Minervans!

The Warhounds then engage Monolith 2, skirting around Pylon 2 and manage to destroy both Necron war machines without the need of support fire nor taking any damage! ([i]Crap, that?s *two* Portals down![i])



Phalanx 1 pours out of Monolith 1?s Portal, engaging the intermingled Assault Gun Platoons 1, 2, and 3. ?Pylon 2 and Armoured Company 1 are in support range of the conflict. ?

The Necrons lose 1 Tomb Spyder, 1 Pariah, and 3 Warriors, but also wipe out the thinly armoured Imperial vehicles. ?The battered Necrons move for cover.


Pylon 2 then sustains fire to roast 1 Medusa from Assault Gun 4, breaking them.

Monolith Group 3 sustains fire on the Armoured HQ, claiming a crossfire from Pylon 3, but only places a Blast marker.

The Eques Maniple then advances out of Monolith 3?s Portal and fires on the Armoured HQ, still under crossfire, and takes out 1 Leman Russ?

End of Turn

Monolith 1 phases out and fails to rally.

Phalanx 1 phases out and succeeds in rallying.

All other Necrons rally.

All Imperial formations rally as well!

Turn 2

The Warbarque shimmers into reality in a gun emplacement and glows menacingly?



Strategy Roll: Necrons!

Phalanx 1 marshals, stepping out of the Warbarque and moving towards the Armoured HQ while rebuilding 1 Immortal and 3 Necron Warriors.



Phalanx 2 issued forth from Monolith 3 and engages the intermingled Armoured HQ, and Assault Guns 4 and 5, with the copious support of Phalanx 1, the Eques Maniple, and a couple of Pylons!

The Necrons lose? an Immortal? Assault 4 is wiped out, five Leman Russ flee in one direct and Assault 5 flees in the other direction, the Necrons have pretty big grins on their immobile faces.


Assault Gun 1 sustains fire on Pylon 1, doing 1DC damage and breaking it.

The Stormblades make a lateral advance and unload everything on Monolith 3? placing a single Blast marker.

The Eques Maniple advances on the Armoured HQ, but only manage to take out a single Leman Russ.

Pylon 2 sustains fire on the Warhounds? and misses.

The Warhounds sustain fire with everything on Monolith 3? and only manage to break it.

The Warbarque sustains fire on Assault Guns 5 and wipes it out.

Pylon 3 hums quietly to itself and goes on overwatch?

End of Turn

All formations rally, on both sides, and Phalanx 1 repairs its damages Immortals?

DS, that first picture for Turn 1 reminds me of our games :p.

So are you bringing the Necrons to CT Chroma?  Or 'nids?

Turn 3

Monolith 1 reappears near a Necron Objective, and promptly breaks!

Monolith Group 3 takes a Blast marker as it appears near the Warhounds.



Strategy Roll: Necrons.

The Heavy Destroyers advance on the Armoured HQ, catching it in crossfire, but doing no damage.

Phalanx 2 then engages the Armoured HQ and wipes it out, losing 3 Warrior units, including the Necron Lord in the process.


The Super-Heavy Tank Company doubles onto the Necron half of the battlefield and fires on Monolith Group 3, breaking it.

The Warhounds follow up by engaging the broken Monolith Group 3 and wiping it out at the cost of a single Void shield!


Pylon 2 sustain fires on the Stormblades? and misses!

The Thunderers of Armoured Company1 heed the calls of the Supreme Commander and double to form a conga line that fires on Phalanx 1, the overwatch fire of Pylon 3 misses and they take out 1 Necron Warrior.

Pylon 1 sustains fire on the Warhounds and drops another Void shield.

The Warbarque slowly doubles and fires on Assault Company 1 and places another Blast marker.

Phalanx 3 finally gets into the act and doubles to grab Minervan Objective 2.

Phalanx 1 can?t believe the order it gets and requests confirmation, they receive it and stride forth to engage the over-extended Armoured Company 1?

Not sure which C?tan had the bright idea to initiate the attack, but the lone Tomb Spyder that survives will certainly have [BEEP!] to say to them about it!  The Minervans lose a single Thunderer in return?

End of Turn:

The Tomb Spyder of Phalanx 1 fades away?

All other formations rally.

Minervans 1 (BTS) vs Necrons 3 (Blitz, BTS, T-n-H)

T'was a brutal game!  Losing two Portals in the opening of Turn 1 made me think it was all over but the crying!

I was cursing myself for not taking a Tomb Complex!  *laugh*

But we never really got to test the massed Macro Weapon fire of the Medusas, as they evaporated pretty quickly.

I believe my opponent hoped the presence of six Commissars and massively out-numbering would deter me from intermingling his packed together units.

4x6 board... all models in a 4 square foot area.
