My simple advice is to use Fighta-Bombas and Landas to hit your opponent. The FB's go after the artillery & flak whilst the landa filled with a warband upgraded with boyz & grots or more nobs air assaults the leman russ getting as many models into base contact as possible.
Additional things to do is to soften up the Leman russ with a Kult of Speed, couple of buggies and lots of Skorchas for the following support fire. Hit artillery batteries with odd boy upgraded blitz brigades. Opinion differs as to the best weapon, but either Supa-Zzaps or Soopaguns can be used to place Blast Markers and break these small formations or to snipe at a broken LR company.
Give it a go and get the green tide flowing

In addition to what TT said, you can try to clip the Russ companies. A decent-sized mob will have them beaten on numbers and you can prep to be ahead on BMs. If you only engage 2-3 Russ, you can almost guarantee that you will have enough grots to soak any casualties, which should leave you with a pretty good bonus on the resolution even with Commisars on the other side. IG Tanks are tough to get started, but once you get a bite on them, they crumble.
Gargants can do a good job as well, being resistant to breaking and having MW barrage but you have to look out for Shadowsords.

I have to say I've always had trouble with tank companies too. Even with an air assault, even clipping them, they can usually pound a vicious amount of firefight. Mind you, I'm using tiny Grey Knight formations, I can't swamp them.
Combined assault seems to be the way to go, but it's so damn dangerous to try and set up as the tanks can pour out enough firepower to obliterate anything too close.

If using air assaults try to add some jump pack troops in the mix too (especially orks). It helps getting more vehicles into B2B and cuts down on the 4+ FF return fire.
