If you would replace (flame) template with normal rules, which would you use?  

Of course that would depend on to-hit roll of the original template, but if it is say 4+, then would 15cm range, 4BP be suitable? As barrage, IIRC, only requires that one unit is under (one) template and other targets can be far beyond that...

I think 15cm is a bit short, since the number of bases than can be covered by the 2 bp templates is probably lower than would be hit by the flamer, not to mention the drop in AT.

30cm seems fairer to me.

Actually, the area of 2 barrage markers is almost as big as that teardrop. And as in normal situation there cannot be targets within first 5cm area, the resulting area is about the same - but the barrage templates are more dynamic, and thus more probably cover more targets if they are not lined up.

For the range thing, two barrage markers with 15cm range can reach about 28cm while teardrop is 21cm as barrage template only needs to hit one target. So the only breakpoint here is that if there is no enemy units within 15cm, then round barrages cannot hit at all while teardrop can. But if there is even one, then it would have longer range...

Yeah I also thought about 30cm but that is much longer range.. but maybe?

For the to-hit thing, yeah that depends of the weapon. Well the one existing has like AP4+, AT5+ so it is can be 4BP. The other one I am looking at is MW 4+, - maybe it could be then 6BP MW if it only hits AT at 5+.. (I guess this is going to be the latest ruling eventually although certain lists are now tuned so that MW barrage hits by AP column...)
