Reading from the FAQ included, it seems to me it's saying "No placement restrictions apply, except for the one form of placement restriction that applies"... doesn't make sense to me. ?*laugh*

Anyone else with thoughts on "extra template" placement?  Should we post the question in Rules?

Not sure Chroma. I spent some time looking into this when you raised it as I thought there might be two references to the "placement" of the initial template, relating to the Range, LOF, etc and to 'maximising' the casualties. This would have justified the FAQ. An alternate thought is that the intention is to prevent 'sniping' - so we need to restrict how the templates are postitioned etc. (and so the FAQ interpretation is what was originally intended)

Personally I think I would feel happier if the requirement was to 'maximise casualties' without stipulating that they must come from the initial formation.

Ultimately, I suspect that it is not going to matter greatly either way because multiple template weapons are relatively rare, and this type of situation is also rare.

One thing to note, I do not think Orbital Bombardments suffer this restriction - as there was no original 'target formation') - but I believe they are carried out under the barrage rules.
