As to the Landing Craft (again) ... while anything that deploys via Planetfall probably lands pretty quickly, it would still presumably be a more cumbersome craft when being used as an aircraft.
Meh. I've half a mind to just take THTs away from the Grey Knights and be done with it if people are going to be upset about it.
Yes, the "vehicle drop pod" thing would work. But that's an abstraction and implies that it is vital to the list that GKs have some way of air-dropping vehicles - it's not. THTs were one of the last things added to the list. Giant formations of GK troops and vehicles - while a scary amount of Fearless+TSKNF units - aren't that viable because they are so expensive and eat up your activations. Lumping expensive aircraft on top of that further reduces your ground activations. So the presence or absence of THTs is not a big deal, in my opinion. I just liked the THTs and thought that while THTs are rather redundant in codex marine armies they matched up with the Grey Knights pefectly - except for the damn formation size issue.
Bear in mind that the first versions of the list simply didn't have any way of air-dropping GK armour. The decision to deprive GK Landing Craft was made very early on - we simply accepted that they couldn't combat-drop Land Raiders. So when the THTs came out it seemed like a nice way around this.
I still think that THTs that can carry 2 LRs each, once you accept that very minor tweak (it took me a long time to swallow this), work very nicely within the list.

Ther Dropod rules for THT shouldn't be for GreyKnights only. I see them working with the Scions of Irons too. It would solve all problems which people have with the THT (goofy stats, to expensive to and to many transport whole formations, tempting to use in un-fluffy means, etc)

True, but relegating that lovely (and extremely expensive!) THT model to a mere "marker" doesn't sit well with me...

that is a very good point, but there is no other non-abusive way of using these effectively as far as I can see (at least as long as you want to move more than 2 LR/4Rhinos).
