They are teleport oriented, think that is the main reason.

I am building up (after nearly 6 years break) a small Deamonhunter force and I got some advice from really good players. They stated, the best use for them is using Inquisition troops  as core (eighter Stormtroopers or guard) and let the Knights teleport in (chosen eighter Terminators or Grey knights in servo as asault choice). The other options are suboptima :;):

japp Their favourite tactics are to search for the infestation (by various sources) and teleport directly in (using their strike cruisers implemented teleporters) to eliminate the threat. LR are only used if they have to stay long in hstile territory, because the raiders are able to support them as forward stronghold. (they prefer the crusader because of the extra space it grants to implement medic facilities, extra ammo and of course a shrine to maintain their pureness) Rhinos cannot be used in that way.

Because they tried using rhinos, but kept getting their Nemesis force weapons stuck in the doors...

I don't think there was ever a concrete reason given in the fluff. I can think of a number of reasons, mostly to do with the "feel" of the army:
- Grey Knights are armed with Terminator armour for the most part. Land raiders are the corresponding transport. Put another way, all Grey Knights can use Land raiders, but a large proportion of them can't use Rhinos
- As already mentioned, they use Teleportation as their primary method of insertion (and air assault as their secondary) - they're even more specialised in this way than regular Space Marines and never have to operate without Imperial support. Rhinos are redundant, whereas Land raiders can fulfil battle tank and line-breaker roles. Unlike drop pods, teleportation or air-cavalry allows rapid redeployment, making Rhinos unnecessary.
- Land raiders are the ultimate APC, reserved almost exclusively for the Astartes. Most Chapters have only a limited number of these prized vehicles for the use of their most elite troops. Grey Knights have the finest equipment existing and don't have to settle for the "inferior" rhinos.

It?s a logical argumentation.

If I could take Bradleys, I would not think about driving around with trucks :)

There are few Grey Knights, and they get deployed as specialised assault groups by air or by teleport. Now a couple of Rhinos trundling along would (1) be highly visible and (2) be very vulnerable to attack. Spo they rely on teleportation and sudden drops. In a similar manner, many highly specialised assault troops do not use armoured vehicles, as these would only advertise their presence.
So - why use Landraiders? To provide firepower, which Rhinos do not have, together with transport. Although to be honest I'd have left the LandRaiders out of the list completely.

So THT's aren't suitable... whilst Landing Craft are.

*Sticks fingers in ears*

Grey Knights are not getting Landing Craft and they're not getting rhinos. If people object strenuously to them having THTs then I'll just take them out of the list and the GK can just suck up not being able to air-drop armour.

I think THTs are perfectly suited for Grey Knights - they allow a single squad to be dropped along with their transport. I just have game-balance issues of squadrons of 4 THTs together.

You could have a special rule whereby GK can effectively drop pod transport onto the table, effectively representing the hot insertion of the LR formation using planet falling thunderhawks without actually introducing a formation of 4 THT's.

Give it an arbitrary cost and require pre-plotting similar to drop pods.  This wwoould make them different to other marine armies, and yet still very GK-y

Yeah, they probably should have ATSNF. And you can make a good case for them having Fearless, especially when fighting Chaos.

If you don't want Landing Craft in your Grey Knight list, and you insist on making up your own type of medium-lift craft rather than using a canon vehicle, then... that'll not be cool. :(

you need not. make them teleport if using no LR in the formation.
