When flyers are set to CAP and they receive that +1 to-hit during CAP action (net E:A rules 2008 =), does this only apply to actual CAP interception and NOT AA fire against flyers that might intercept the CAP formation?

I'd rule it this way, but YMMV. Opinions?

Only CAP, not interception?? (engaging Flyers on convetional way)

I would allow +1 to both orders, as they are strictly focused on Air combat. ground based AA should not get any bonus, because for them there is no difference wehther the flyers attack ground or air targets. They engage with targeting computer anyway (or simply fill the air with lead)

The question, I think, was 'Do CAPing aircraft get +1 to hit aircraft which are NOT the targets of their CAP, such as other aircraft intercepting them'. I'd assume not, that you only get +1 to hit the aircraft you're specifically CAPing against, myself, same for the Intercept order.

Ilushia's right.  It's only +1 during the aircraft formation's CAP/Intercept action.  The rules specifies formations that "are carrying out a CAP or Intercept action."  Once the action ends, the bonus ends.

Of course, if you're using the optional rule to stack CAP actions, it's an open question that you'll have to work out.

I don?t think thats a problem. I would give them +1 for the whole turn. They concentrate completely on fighting other aircraft, no matter which one. So why shoiuld they loose the bonus. Straitforward is the best I think.

but only my opinion.

I dislike the idea of any hint of remembering orders if it can be avoided, hence I go with the during the action interpretation. The rule states

"Aircraft that are carrying out a CAP or Intercept action may add +1 to all of their to hit rolls."

So specific, and not a more general:

"Aircraft that take a CAP or Intercept action may add +1 to all of their to hit rolls."
