Okay, let's start with basics.
Are you aware of the distinction between War Engines and 'normal' Armoured Vehicles?

I am aware of the distinction between War Engines and 'normal' Armoured Vehicles,i ask the question because in a battle against IG i used orbital bombardment and hit a formation of three benblade.

Ah.
Well, Barrage hits are always applied to whatever they hit, rather than being spread around.
- So first you place the template(s). - You work out how many attacks each War Engine is going to have against it. - You roll the attack dice for each War Engine, individually. - You check how many hits each War Engine has taken, and then save against them, individually.
As you can now see, Barrage attacks are different to direct attack weapons (AT shots), in that they are applied against specific models in the enemy formation, rather than being applied front-to-back.
So, to answer your question: You did it slightly wrong (And so did Hena), because you were speed-rolling in a situation where you should have been keeping track of each attack dice rolled.

As E&C said, the letter of the rule is that each unit under the barrage is attacked separately. Unless one of the WEs was under the center hole of the template, that's one attack each.
In the example it's pretty easy to sort out - one attack per unit under the barrage means one hit each. If all three hits failed saves, that would be one point of damage each.

Don't forget to check if a hit goes "critical" - throw a D6 and if you get a 6, check the effects on the WE datasheet.
