That's always been an enigma for me, F/W's L/Russes are smaller than G/W's L/Russes and F/W's Baneblades & Shadowswords are bigger the G/W's?

?

I have them all and side by side they don't look out of scale, but just like a lot of different types of AFVs. Like the French Armored Forces of 1940. FT-17s, R35s, H39s, AMRs, S-35s, D-2s, B-1s etc., etc., a lot different types to do a few missions...

But they looked good! :laugh:

Being a poor convict from the colonies (

), I haven't actually seen any FW stuff until recently when a guy visiting from the UK brought some around to show off. I was amazed that the Marauder was twice the size of mine, the Superheavies at least 1.5 times bigger and the Russ variants were about 3/4 the size of a metal one.

I think that they are probably a lot more in scale with each other and with the infantry figures, but it's a pain having them inconsistent with the metal ones...

I just didn't like them too much. The Earthshakers were lovely though.

Which leaves me in the dilemma of making my own Vanquisher Command tanks for my Russ Comapnies and my own variants that weren't released in metal, such as the Executioner.

My thoughts on the Executioner are above, for a Vanquisher just add a longer barrel?

Has anybody made a Russ Executioner with the Plasma Gun?
I've seen the FW ones and don't like them too much; they are much smaller and not in scale with the E-50k era metal minis.

Yes. I made each of the variants from old AT-1/SM-1 Russ hulls. My Vanquishers (the one with the long gun) were in the Epic golden Demon a year or two (or more) back. I used an old BT turret that can still be gotten from Iron Wind.

I was thinking of ripping a plasma barrel off a HW Ork or something and glueing it to a filed down Russ barrel.
Has anyone already done this?

I used odd gun bitz from my "goodies" box. I don't know where the bitz came from other than a convention flea market.

I have some old Codex Grey 28mm Laser Rifles that I want to mount on some superheavies or Titans...

I also picked up some old Eldar weapon sprues at the flea market this year. My mind is still churning over what kind of fiendish conversions I'll make...

O.K. here's what I did:

- I cut the end of an SM-2 L/Russ and glued it on another SM-2 L/Russ gun barrel = instant Vanquisher.

- Now with the L/Russ Turret with the short barrel. I took a Plasma pistol from an old 40K sprue and glued it to the barrel after filing it to fit = instant Executioner.

I'm sure you can do the same with the E-40K L/Russ.

Geez! Do I got to tell you guys everything?!

No. Sorry. There were some photos on the old Tuffskull site, but they apparently haven't made it to the De'Aynes Gallery yet.

I have access to cameras, but not editing or downloading faculties. That's what my sister does!

It was the Epic Golden Demon (EGD) not a regular GW GD. I didn't win either even though many people liked my conversions and work (I had some trucks, a modified StormHammer SHT, etc.).

I was thinking an old 40k plasma pistol would do just the trick for an Executioner. If only I hadn't dumped all my old 40k figures those years ago...

Can you get the 28mm 40k accessory sprue?

It has Plasma pistols.

I have several of those sprues.

BTW- whats a BT Turret? ?

BT = Battletech.

I think the turret I used was from the Hussar mech.

Ahhh... do you know if there are any photos still floating about? ?
They sound most intriguing... ?

I believe that the photos are still archived on Tuffskull' site off the NetEpic hub.

I think the SHT is in De'Aynes. It is a Stormhammer with a rocket launcher instead of the rear turret.

- What's an easy way of manufacturing a hatch cover so I can poke a crewman out of the hatch? ?

Yes, I know I can file down an Epic figure base but that is messy and time consuming.

- Anyone got a nice "quick fix?"

Green Stuff comes to mind. I recently tried my skills for the first time and sculpted a maltese cross-shaped handguard for a powersword. I am converting a SM captain to Emperor's champion.

Another, even quicker way would be to cut a slice of some suitably sized round sprue.

I got the 4 Titan Carapace Multi-laser turrets from Doug today. ?They look fine on a Whirlwind/Rhino hull. ?My version of an Imperial Flak tank. ?Should work out well ... ? :;):

The Epic Chimera and Leman Russ models came with separate hatches and I have used them.

There was one with a bolter, one with a searchlight and one plain.
