Mark my words: "If GW does well with WH40K Apacolypse you can count on them getting rid of Warmaster like they are getting rid of Epic to make a mass combat system for Warhammer Fantasy."

And if not....? I think they're making a big mistake with this one. Over here I can barely imagine anyone getting these  very expensive toys, which, incidentally, may dent troop sales. Then again, perhaps we're a sheltered environment.

I'd be sorry to see Warmaster get the Epic treatment; and now I'm even more keen to try Warmachine  :D

I would be surprised if there isn't something like this in the works.

Anybody else think the decision to work on Apocalypse was made about at the same  time as the decline of E:A started?

Or the other way round.

And I still think it's preposterous  :p
Even if it makes bundles of $, as a wargame it's preposterous.

ANd that fulfils my daily quota for use of 'preposterous'  :p

Well, that's what I meant, i.e. the decline of E:A was probably at least accelerated by the Apocalypse.

FromWarseer:

Hey folks!

Just got back from Gamesday LA. Phil Kelly gave a good presentation, concentrated on Apocalypse, though there wasn't too much new information that I caught. A few bits:

-Space Marine battle company was reportedly priced as being around $400. The GW rep's exact quote was: "the set is a $750 value and the box set saves hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and... almost another hundred dollars."

-The Baneblade painted in Steel Legion colors is not the Fortress of Arrogance (Yarrick's Personal Baneblade), but rather is an altogether new urban-combat themed variant called the Hellhammer. The main gun is shorter ranged, but reportedly ignores cover saves.

-The Baneblade's main gun uses the ultra-massive new Apocalypse Template and is supposedly strength D. This means it wounds automatically and auto-penetrates. The massive template thing sounds a little dodgy to me, but that's what was reported in the presentation.

-The Vortex Grenade reportedly teleports around to random spots on the table after it is used, and kills or destroys anything is touches (though is supposedly only causes one point of damage to super-heavies).

-There are around 30 datafaxes total, making for 3ish per army. Subsequent codex releases will reportedly have datafaxes released for them online.

The Vortex Grenade
, albeit in a new format, is the onlt really good news so far. My Nurgle overlord in 40k (still to be modlled) is named for it - Vhortek. And he'll be armed with Vhortek's grenade....  :p

Ah, so it's that one. ANd I'd missed the point on it in your list.
Interesting, but if I were to buy one of the big beasties a Stormhammer conversion would be the priority for me, I'd say.

Why on earth do they have to add hell, doom, death,  bane, extinction, massacre, carnage, apocalypse etc. to EVERY vehicle name? It's just like skulls.  :(

And I didn't know Hellhammer has crawled onto solid ground...

In view and consideration of Mr. Piett's recommendation, I shall call my next Imperial conversion but one 'Buttercup'

And next time please do not tempt me with visions of ships sprouting caterpillar tracks     (I wonder if only MoW afficio - affectio - asfis - afishyficcio - fanatics get this :p )

Tank Company - a way of saying 'I have no brain'.
Basilisk Battery - a way of emphasising the point.

Erm, actually, if I have the money, I'll get a Tank Company set... :confuse: ?40k scale Epic FTW! :p

Seriously, if I can get bout ?500 together at some point towards the end of the year (stop giggling at the back there!) ?I'd buy the folllowing:

- Apocalypse gamers set, with the book, al the dice/templates, and a 'Cadian' Back-pack
- Baneblade
- Tank Company
- Space Marine Battle Company

Now, this is not because I want to make an entire Space Marine Battle Company in 40k scale. ?Rather, I enjoy making 40k Space Marines, and if ever GW went out of business, I'd still like to have Space Marines to make & paint so in that sense, it is a box-set for a kind of 'apocalypse'... ?Also, my fiancee's son wants more Marines, and if my son grows up to have an interest in Wargaming, I'm prety certain he'd want some Space Marines - hey, they're every kid's first foray in to wargaming nowadays.

In regards to table size, which I've noted a few people have commented on, well I don't know how most people are going to get by, but with our Wargaming facilities we have the ideal set up for massive games of Apocalypse: a gaming room with up to twenty tables, so people could set up a ginorm-odome mega battle that they could fight over the course of days, leaving everything each night to returnand carry on the next morning.

But I'm fortunate in that respect; like I said, I don't know how most other gamers will get on... :;):
