There is a change in GW for Epic though. It's subtle but might make a bit of a difference. Staff have now lost weight in England. Before it was vastly more expensive to collect Epic than 40K. That is no longer there. So maybe staff will be more willing to get into Epic, and if more staff get into it that might cause an influx of new players.

I have been playing epic from day one GW have made hundreds of pounds out of me by ending production of a product and then re-releasing it in a new format i have had enough DRM and EW will be getting my bussines from now on i wonder what trading standards would say about a company ending a line and then re-releasing it at tripple the price a few mounths later? arrrrrrrrrrgh

I started Epic in '89 ... But DRM & E/W are the new kids on the block !  I'll be surprised if we see little if any 6mm Sci-fi from G/W -S/G.  And who knows what F/W will do once AI runs it's course ...

Welcome back to the Show, W/I ! :D ?We'll keep 6mm SF alive with DRM & E/W ! :D ?G/W ... who !? :)

thanks L4- it helped that you & C/S reminded me of the new web address- that shows how long I have been off. I am not too bothered if SG don't release much new figures, with exception of BF Mars for BFG.

I would be happy with them (re) releasing:
1) Epic Chaos metal blisters
2) Epic Nid metal blisters
3) BFG Voss Prow Cruisers/Light Cruisers

I know the last one aint going to happen but hey- just the first two would be a good start.

Any gaps in SG release schedule just gives me more time to not paint my existing figures!!
Cheers

James

Read the whole response that Gav made.  What amazes me is that while they are asking what can be done for the veteran gamers they make excuses or deny that what gets brought up to them are problems.  They ask the question, but they don't want to hear the answers.

I'd tell them that they are in denial, but then they'd say that they are nowhere near Egypt.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.  I guess I'll just totter off, scan and make my own Epic:A rulebook, complete with rules corrections that nobody else can seem to get done.

... I told ya so.... :D

Yep. ?You were right. ?As the resident GW cheerleader and fanboy, I was overly optimistic.

I've ordered the sack cloth and ashes so as to be appropriately penitent. ?:;):

That's 7-8 extra projects to think about. We are still releasing extra miniatures for these games - the Warmaster Araby army, for example, or the forthcoming BFG Mechanicus ships. However, if we continued the level of support that they had when they were launched, or when Fanatic was at its height, then the question is simple: which Army book would you like us to delay?

That's certainly weird logic. When Fanatic was in full swing, Army books were still coming out at 2+ per year, and GW's profits were higher.

Now with Fanatic transformed into Zombie Specialist Games, only 2 army books per core game come out per year (assuming a generous grant of the appelation to Yet Another Marine Book or Yet Another Dwarf Release), and their profits are significantly down.

Why don't they simply follow their logic to its endpoint, and realize that if they just shut the company down, costs would be 0?

With the now announced release of the Adeptus Mechanicus fleet on the GW France site, rumours of FW Epic 'Nids in late 2008 (mentioned on Hive Fleet Moloch or somewhere like that), and the new Epic Chaos Horde, I have to say, i'm rather enthusiastic.   I say rather than preach doom and gloom we kick back in the lawn chairs, crack open a beer, enjoy the sunset, and hope the sun rises tomorrow morning.

hope for the best... but expect the worst, this is GW after all, they call it a hobby but, well, it is a buisness.

Something that might interest you guys:

From Gav Thorpe, answering suggestions to improve GW generally.
Support specialist games. Think of specialist games as extra armies that require support. Also, it is entirely impractical for us to carry the range of specialist games in our stores, or in independents for that matter, due to the sheer size. Being direct-only at least keeps these games available, and is not a deliberate attempt to undermine them. Occasional releases and features in WD will highlight the specialist games and bring them to people's attention.

Within the current depression, the promise of "occasional" releases is a but spark in the darkness.

Oh yeah, here's where it came from:
http://warhammer.org.uk/PhP....2b41c89

That is interesting, but inherantly flawed logic.

Continued SG support didnt used to mean drawing resources from the core games, and to be honest I am very offended that GW are attempting to get the 'unsilent majority' of core gamers behind any lack of support for SG. The fact is that this situation of chosing what to support is only on us because GW withdrew staff from SG and transferred them to other areas of development. If SG had dedicated staff, then we could actually have progress in all areas.

So, GW take away staff and then tell the 40K and WHFB gamers that they would need to miss out if SG got the development and resources that it not only deserves but has shown it can maintain. Nice one Gav and GW!

And, the comment about "occasional releases and features in WD" made me smile. I guess by this Gav means a single page of pictures in the 'releases' section of WD, and that we should be grateful that we get this exposure.

You know, I am looking for a nice scifi warband game, but there is no way that I will buy into any other GW games. Whats the point?

Which army book you want to delay for more support to SG?

Hmm ... let me think ... Any/all ? :D

Ha ha, my thoughts exactly.... I am quite happy for the rules to go unchanged with the core games, its just annoying having to change an army that you have already finished.

The only reason I keep playing 40K is because it fits into the Epic and BFG game worlds.  These games add a depth to the 40K gaming world that makes it attractive.  The sucky rules and expensive minis are not the things that draw people in its the cool imagery and thats why I think the specialist games are worth if for them even if they don't sell as much in themselves because I think their existence is what makes the 40K universe so attractive to people.  I remember all the pictures of titans and space ships fighting in WD as a kid and ended up playing 40K because that was so cool.  I only started playing SG later when I realised how cool the rules are and when I saw that you could actually make a 6mm army look good painting wise.
