Hey:
I couldn't remember where Utopia posted it, but something someone posted on the Moderator thread reminded me of it and I think it bears repeating. Someone stated something along the lines of "we'll have the rules in 3-4 months."
According to Utopia's sources, the warehouse in MD has Epic listed with a February available date. He says that his source is very good and he estimates this as an 85% probability that the release will be delayed to Feb.
Sorry for the news, if you haven't heard it yet.
I'm still hoping it will make it out, but I have had my doubts ever since someone pointed out the LotR conflict.

Hi!
I never gave much credence to its release this year. Early 2004 was much more reasonable and I think releasing it "on its own" gives it a better chance than it being lost between bigger christmas releases.

Yeah, rememeber hearing of this a while ago, and while a little disapointing, it seems sensible for GW to do this, especially as has been said- with the final LOTR game coming out at exactly the same time...

Hi!
I think anything that contributes to showcase on its own is a good idea. The Christmas rush is good for business, but it also means proven sellers get all the attention (as good business dictates). So releasing it in late winter or early spring means less competition, more exposure in GW mags and hopefully more support.
While no one likes to wait, in this case its good that they do.

I think I mentioned that E-A will be released in 3-4 months, but again that as based on what I heard at the time, and a "light-hearted" remark. However, nothing that G/W has done or will do would surprise me. A year from now, we may still be waiting on the release of the Epic SM AFVs we saw at G-Day ...

I think it is probably better to delay it to a slot where it will be the main focus. It would just be lost in the Christmas rush of the more popular games, and that would not be good.
Ideally, it could do with a few months exposure in WD at least. I cant see it happening though.

Lots of "EA Development" and "basic How to Play" type articles that have heralded the release of other games like BFG. I think that the lessons from lack of advertising and support from Epic 40k will really be learnt, and if GW does anything well its advertising.
Of course I may be looking through rose coloured glasses of hope...

Does this apply to every country or will it depend on whats going on in the relevant regions?

...which means that because GW Oz isnt supporting EA at all that means that any EA stuff will pobably be clipped from our edition of WD...
Guess I'll be getting some UK/US editions posted in with my Epic models which they refuse to stock here

Tas,
I learnt that not all regions follow through with releases, look at the Epic Exodites for example, the U.S. did release them but not the U.K., who scraped the idea or something. Sorry if this is a bit of repetition but what if GW Oz does not support E-A at all?
In general, I have been wondering, if the GW regions handle it themselves, how will they stagger the releases? How did BFG get re-released? I know that the "add-on Invasion" (was it called Invasion?) supplement wasn't available until later in the U.K. so I got it from the U.S.

Doug- Not exactly sure- I think GW US decided to re-release BFG because it wasn't selling well, and so a bit of a push would get it going again- this seems to have worked, so GW UK have copied them, and made a rather half-hearted attempt at it... ?..dissapointing!
-Are you sure BFG: Invasion is out in the UK though, I thought not?
However, disregarding that, I would think that as Epic:A is a whole new game, it will be released in different areas at approximatly the same time- GW US might be a month behind for shipping, etc possibly..?
Poor old Tas in Australia will find things difficult- there were always complaints about GW Aus and BFG stuff on the Yahoo BFG list... and it seems this is/will be the case with all Specialist Games... very bad imo....
Just my thoughts... cheers,

As I undertand it, GW Oz has made an executive decision that based on sales figuires, the only stuff worth selling is the main lines. They USED to support the "secondary games" (ie BFG, E40k, Mordeheim, Warmaster etc) through Mail Order in Australia, but it was a minimalist approach so that when you ordered through them you often had to wait until they got their stuff from the UK anyway- but at least you didnt have to pay overseas postage.
The new policy is that due to poor sales (which they = minimal intrest) ONLY the premier lines (40k, WFB and LoTR) are stocked within stores and that Mordeheim (based on good sales to date) will be the ONLY additional game available through mail order. ANYTHING else must be ordered by customers through overseas mail order.
I guess theyfigure that its not worth bringing stuff in to sit in the Oz MO warehouse if they arent getting the sales from it. From a very mercenary point of vue, the customers who get annoyed by this arent the ones giving them the big chunks of cash so they dont care...
What that means for follow on support in Oz WD and events in Australia I can only speculate, but if they arent supporting the game here with minis, then they wont be wasting their advertising space with anything dedicated to EA.
Guess I'll be using a lot of internation credit orders next year when EA is released...
