Please please please get the scale right. Modern gw fluff horrifies me at just how few troops are involved in this war. You should be equalling the Africa war at least - and that was a sideshow with the second battle of El Alamein'only' involving 200,000 men and 1,000 tanks under Montgomery and 100,000 men and 500 tanks of the Afrika Korps.

I think I could be interested in providing some artwork for this project. It all depends on what little time I have available though....

Cheers for the heads-up OrangeSM!

As a response to TRC - GW main house seems to forget how many troops are involved in a military campaign.  However I think FW has a good example of a military campaign with the Taros Campaign.

So since the war tends to escalate, early on the conflict can be small - a few Companies of Tanks chasing Dark Eldar into the desert, the first Necrons making raids on out lying settlements retreating to their tombs followed by a few Companies of Tanks that get wiped out, escalating to the Necrons marching on the settlements and pitched battles against the Armoured Regiments.

I actually liked the scale of the Baran War (it left a little to the imagination).  GW main house has to sell that the battles of 40k are important events and not a skirmish or assault near an objective in a larger battle (Epic Assault what?).

One of the attractions of Epic for me is it can be a segment of the front where a push is being made.

E&C's Tallarn list is here, although you can read that he is planning on putting out 1.4 quite soon.

I can't really comment on the scale of the conflict.  As I mentioned before, Corey is leading the fiction and I haven't peaked over his shoulder to see what he has done today.  However, we may be disappointing TRC.  Our outline covered a particular story of the Tallarn Armored Regiment and their interaction with the Necron and Dark Eldar, even though there were other Tallarns around.  I think it is important to point out the scale of the conflict in Swordwind was not the same as in Armageddon (it was much smaller).

Stugmeister, you have until July 15th to get something in.  Many, many weeks away.  And you can always contribute something past that date; it is just that you may not make the contest deadline.  There are a couple months between then and our publication deadline.

Greetings all.

I'm tossing up a collage picture of a Necron Pylon I'm adding to the prize pot.

I'll be putting a Warbarque up as well.  For those who haven't seen it, here is a pic of my first one.  The prize version will not be painted or primed.  All that is up to you. :)

I'll try to post pics of the Phalanx this week.

Very nice, stugmeister.
"Tank hunter", "They came from the skies" and "Inquisitorial retinue" are probably your best.

EDIT: And the Dust Nomad Imperial Agent (got the real Inquisitor-feeling about).

Yes, Stugmeister is "raising the bar" on the competition if his submissions are anything like his previous work. :)

TRC: The conflict plot will involve around 20,000 humans, plus several thousand civvies, with Necrons & Dark Eldar in addition.

The setting is a training world, rather than an all-out war, only two IG regiments are present (One of which is a Tank Regiment), preparing for a deployment to a warzone.

With so many questions about the models and lists and storyline I decided to put together a pdf with all sorts of pictures and other information in an organized form.

Btw, I used a couple of images of other people's Necron stuff that were posted here awhile ago.  I don't remember who they belonged to but I will remove them immediately if you want.  I wish I could credit them to somebody.

Updated info
