Quote (centurion @ 17 2003 June,10:34) | Well, I'm not an expert at converting, but I did the following: Crusader: I used four BFG chaos turrets to represent the side sponsons, two assault guns from the plastic IG sentinel and a melta-gun from the squat trike mounted on the turret. Land Speeder Typhoon: Cut a missile launcher from the Whirlwind in half and mount it on the sides of the Land Speeder.
Land Raider Promethues: Use two bolter sprues from the Thunderhawk, cut in half and mount them one on top of the other and use the turret from the Whirlwind "sans" missiles as a command turret.
Well, that's about it; I have pictures but no way of posting them. Any suggestions would be helpful. |
Are the pictures you have electronic?
If so, E-mail them to me and I'll host them for a time on my site.
That way, people can see what you have done.

Centurion,
The pics are on a picture disc. I'll have to download them and then send them off. - Centurion |
I never received your photos.

I thought I'd mention that I took a small E-trip to the old Epic E-group and looked through the photo files and found another Landraider Crusader conversion.
It looks like ther person took the Epic-40k plastic Landraider and simply cut off the long laser cannon barrels from the side turrets. He added two sets of the barrels for a total of four barrels. It didn't have six barrels like the Crusader does, but it was a pretty effective conversion.
That reminds me, who uses the LR Crusader?
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Who use the Land Raider Crusader (Which SM chapters)?
I also have a new idea to make the plasma (melta) gun turret on the LR Crusader:
- Use an attack bike side car and add a small turret around the gunner.
I figure that I can file / cut off the turret until it fits in a simple cuppola made out of hollow round tubing to make a M-113 ACAV style turret.
What do you, gentlemen, think?
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

IIRC, the Black Templars were the first unit I saw use the Crusader (rather appropriate - yes ? ). ?
And we had M113s with ACAVs in the R.O.K. -
I'd say your idea would work!

Your idea sounds great Maksim, and yep, the Black Templars were the original designers of the Crusader, but it is now used by the majority of Chapters in the Imperium....

... which is handy!
You wouldn't want only one chapter to have a particular version of the vehicle now would you?

Hi!
There was a conversion for this in NetEpic too, but I think it didn't find so much favor an was either shifted to a optional unit or dropped.

I have been considering how to do a conversion for a SM BA Baal Predator...
My initial thoughts were to use the rotary cannons from the old plastic IG Sentinels.
Has anyone else tried to make a SM BA Baal?

Not a bad thought, but you'd probably get slightly more detail and a better SM look using Dreadnought arm weapons.
Just a thought. ?

Good idea T/S! ?
If G/W or F/W does not release one in the future, I'm going to try that!
