Hi, I'm back again with another battle report! :)

Pretty much the same forces as the last game, but this time my brother had a greater understanding about assaults.

Siegemasters - 1500pts

Once again the Ultramarines had a downed aircraft to capture, in this instance a Thunderbolt Fighter and my Siegemasters had a research facility to take. Also, we both had Blitzkrieg Objectives to capture in eachother's deployments zones.

The Ultramarines deployed their Tactical Detachment, mounted up in Rhinos and Razorbacks on the road on their right flank. Beside them, the Vindicator detachment was also on the road. The assault marines took up position to the left of the road. On their left flank, the Devestator Detachment were mounted up at the base of the hill with the Land Raiders deployed above them.

I deployed my Regimental HQ in fortifications on my left flank, a single move away from the Research station (objective). My other Infantry Comp was deployed on the right in ruins, ready to advance and contest the Ultramarines' objective immediately to their front; They were backed up by the bulky Ragnoraks. I deployed my Bombards at the rear of my line, as well as my Siegfrieds and StormHammer.

Turn One
Ultramarines won initiative

Revving their engines, the Devestators doubled to capture their downed Thunderbolt objective, jumping out of their Rhinos and securing the crash-site. They then fired at my Infantry Company, killing two stands.
The Land Raiders marched forward and took up position next to the dismounted ?Devestator Detachment.
Seeing the battle was well underway, my Bombards opened up, sending their massive shells into the crash-site. The resulting barrage killed two Devestator stands. My Infantry Company marshalled and took some pot shots at Devestator marines doing nothing.
The Ultramarine Vindicators marched towards the RegimentalHQ, the mounted Tactical Detachment joining them. Seeing this threat speed towards them, the RegimentalHQ Rapiers opened up on the Vindicators, knocking one out.
The Assault Marines jumped forward, landing behind the besieged Devestators.
My Ragnoraks moved round the Infantry Company and fired at Assault Marines killing just one stand. Seeing the threat developing to the front of the fortifications, my Siegfrieds marched and redeployed themselves to the right of the RegimentalHQ; the StormHammer marching to the left, ready to lend FF support to any assault.

SiegeMasters won initiative

My Ragnoraks crept forwards more and fired at the Assault Marines, trying to thin their numbers.
The StormHammer moved foward and fired at the Tactical Detachment, killing a Razorback plus its occupants.
The Ultramarine Vindicators moved forward and fired at the RegimentalHQ killing one Infantry stand. Retaining, the Tactical Detachment assaulted the entrenched RegimentalHQ. Even with the StormHammer support the position is over-run; in the chaos of close combat the company is cut down as they flee, leaving a stand and RLD as the only survivors. MY LEFT FLANK HAS COLLAPSED!!!
Realising I can't afford for my right to be destroyed, I send my Siegfrieds forwards to try and thin the ranks of Ass marines further- none are killed. Luckily the Assault Marines fail their activation so cannot assault my Infantry Company, instead they move behind the LandRaiders. The LandRaiders fire at the Ragnoraks, all save.
The Infantry Company and Devestator Detachment carried on exchanging fire, doing nothing but spray the ruins with Bolter, Thudd Gun and Stubber fire.

Ultramarines won initiative

Failing their activation the Devestator Detachment moved towards the Infantry Company.
My Ragnoraks sustain fired and destroyed three Rhinos of Devestators. The Siegfrieds wheeled around and fired into Assault marines, once again failing to cause any damage.
The Ultramarine LandRaiders fired at Ragnoraks knocking out two of the lumbering beasts. Retaining, the Assault Marines assault the Infantry Company in the ruins; brutal close combat results in the Marines being wiped out, three stands killed of the Siegemaster Infantry. The supporting LandRaiders and Devestators withdraw leaving the crash site to be taken.
The Bombards fired into the recently-occupied fortifications and kill a Razorback and Tactical stand. Wanting revenge for the slaughter of their RegimentalHQ comrades, my Infantry Company assaulted the broken Devestators; killing them all. The surviving members of the Tactical Detachment marched forward at full speed, taking their Blitz Objective.
In the end phase, the LandRaider's rally, meaning that the Thunderbolt objective is contested. I have taken the research station.

Once again we both enjoyed the game. So much so in fact that I've gone and bought a tonne of Tyranid stuff off eBay and my bro's been searching and buying more Marine vehicles!

Anyway, my plan almost failed. If the game had gone of for a couple more turns then I reckon I would have been surrounded and mashed.

Hopefully the next game we play will be more points, maybe 2000 or more. I still need to add another Infantry Company which I'll back up with an arty company and some rough riders.

I enjoy reading the bat reps you guys do so I thought why not return the favour! :)

@The_Real_Chris; I do want more Infantry, if only to get more guns!!!
As for the 'Nids, I've always wanted to do them in Epic and they're totally different from all the other armies available.
Don't worry tough, the Siegemasters have still got a lotta life left in them!

As for regular opponents, by bro's the only person I play against at the mo. Even then its barely once a month. I have got a mate who was going to be a regular player, but he's gone a bit quiet at the mo - bought up a tonne of Epic Ork bits and then promptly started selling off a lot of GW gear. :80:
