OK guys. I have decided to create a locked, organised thread so that you can see the progress as it is made, and I can keep track of what needs to be done.

This thread will probably begin incomplete, and I am relying on the EA Tau community to point me towards issues and suggestions for concideration.

If there is anything that has been left off of this list, please post your comments here:

Thread: CS - v4.3.4 Topics?

This work will build towards version 4.4, which will be dispatched directly to the SG Vault, not initially appearing here.

Items For Investigation

This list consists of issues which need further examination or investigation. This does not necessarily mean that changes need to be made, but that we should re-visit the area to check things out. In each case, I will open a thread on the issue, pin it and then link it to the list below. When the issue is resolved, I will then lock the discussion thread and we can move on to the next item. In many cases, I am aware that the issues have been debated, and added them to the list to remind myself to note the conclusion of the debate.

- Orca as transport for Kroot. Resolution:

Orca: Add Kroot to the list of possible transported stands. Increase transport capacity to ten.

Kroot: Add the Orca upgrade to the force list.

- Markerlight Drone Sentry Turrets. Resolution:

Force List

Markerlight Sentry Contingent
Six (6) Markerlight Sentry Drone Turrets, 75 points

Upgrades: None

Stat Line

Type: Light Vehicle
Speed: 0cm
Armour: 4+
Close Combat: -
Firefight: -

Weapons: None
Notes: Markerlights, Teleport, Robotic sentry.

Robotic sentry (main special rule section): Robotic sentry units do not get activations and they cannot be used to claim or contest objectives. Units out of formation coherency in the end phase are treated as destroyed as normal but do not add blast markers to the formation for these destroyed units. The controlling player must remove units until the remaining units in the formation are in coherency. In addition, the formation may roll to Rally in each end phase. This is the only action that they are able to perform.

- Swordfish upgrade; 2 for 25 points. Resolution:

Change the Swordfish upgrade to: "Replace up to two Hammerhead Gunships with Swordfish (the same points are paid even if the player selects to only upgrade one Hammerhead); +25 points"

- AX-1-0. Resolution:

Points: 225
Force List: Available individually (max formation size of one), any number of formations within 1/3 of total force limit permitted.

Type: War engine, bomber
Speed: Bomber
Armour: 5+
Close Combat: n/a
Firefight: n/a

Twin Light Railcannon - 45cm - MW3+ - Titan Killer (D3), FxF
Twin-Linked Burst Cannons - 15cm - AP4+/AA6+
Heavy Interceptor Missiles - 30cm - AT5+/AA5+ - FxF
Aircraft Seeker Missiles - 45cm - AT6+ - Guided missiles

FxF - Fixed forward fire arc
Notes: DC2, Critical effect as version 4.3.3

- Stats and speed of the Scorpionfish and Dragonfish. Resolution:

Scorpionfish

A contingent formation consists of one or two Scorpionfish, at 225 points each.

Upgrades - Networked Drones, Drones, Heavy Drones.

One Scorpionfish in the Tau force may be upgraded with the Tau Deflector Shield and Tau Supreme Commander for a total of +100 points.

Stats
Type: War Engine
Speed: 25cm
Armour: 5+
CC: 6+
FF: 6+

Variable Munitions Launcher - select the missile salvo type before firing each turn
Either: 4x Tracer Missiles : 75cm : MW6+ : Guided
Or: 6x Seeker Missiles : 75cm : AT6+ : Guided
Or: 6x Submunitions Missiles : 75cm : AP5+ : Guided, Ignore Cover

And: 2x Twin Linked Missile Pod : 45cm : AT4+/AT4+

Notes: Damage Capacity: 3. Critical Hit Effect: The primary munitions store is hit, igniting the payload internally and ripping the vehicle apart from the inside. All units within 5cm suffer a single AP6+/AT6+ hit.
Skimmer, Reinforced Armor.

- Clarify and focus the upgrade options. Resolution:

Fire Warrior Cadre - All, except Supreme Commander and Networked Drones

Battlesuit Cadre - All, except Networked Drones

Other upgrades remain as in version 4.3.3. I dont think that this changes much, just restricts the use of Shas'El (leader) in the same formation as Networked Drones.

- Increase Hero Tracers to 6? Resolution:

Currently, the Hero's Tracers are 4xMW6+(Guided). Increase this to 6xMW6+(Guided).

- Allow Tetra and Piranha as double transport capacity in the Manta, rather than vehicle bay. Resolution:

Transport (may carry 16 of the following units: Fire Warriors, Pathfinders, Stealth, Gun Drones, Heavy Drones, Crisis, Broadsides; Crisis and Broadsides take up two spaces each; additionally, up to four of the following vehicles may be carried as well: Devilfish, Hammerhead, Swordfish, Skyray, Stingray, Piranha, Tetra)

This is changed to:

Transport (may carry 16 of the following units: Fire Warriors, Pathfinders, Stealth, Gun Drones, Heavy Drones, Crisis, Broadsides, ?Piranha, Tetra; Crisis, Broadsides, Piranha and Tetra take up two spaces each. Additionally, up to four of the following vehicles may be carried as well: Devilfish, Hammerhead, Swordfish, Skyray, Stingray)

Items For A Future Development Stage

Issues on the following list will not be discussed currently. They are things that I feel are best left for a future stage of development. They are listed here to let people know that they are not forgotten.

- Initiative bonus for Stealth, Moray and/or Manta.

- Network Drones; allowing further formations access to the upgrade.

- Knarloc Riders.

- Tau names for the relevant units (I know, sorry. A long time coming!)

- Swordfish: What is the purpose of this unit? Does the upgrade alter the role of the formation? Are these taken in 'all' formations?

- AX-1-0: Formation size and points cost. Increase main armament to 2+?

- Pathfinders (and, to a lesser extent, Fire Warriors): Disrupt on the Rail Rifle? Are the Fire Warriors worth taking for their own value, do these two infantry units perform as expected? Are Fire Warriors worth taking when compared? Should Pathfinders points value be increased?

- Orca: Can these be exploited? Should they be limited to one per Cadre taken?

- Change the name of the Scorpionfish?

- Add the Networked Drones upgrade to other Continents?

- Look at the role of the Kroot... Initial discussion here..

Edits and Clarifications

Items on this list consist of issues of confusion, where clarification would not change the rules mechanics or direction of the list. Please post suggestions for this list here:

Thread: CS - v4.3.4 Topics?

- Remove the rogue 'OR' in the Tiger Shark stat box.

- Add the following (or a variation of the) clarification regarding Jet Packs...

The Jet Pack withdrawal does come immediately after the declaration of the assault, so against an air assault they aren't going to be able to prevent CC. ?They can still move to a position to recieve FF support from a friendly formation etc.

And...

The rules for intermingled assaults means that all the formations being assaulted are treated as a single formation and have to stay in unit coherency .

This is the same for Tau formations when they are assaulted as intermingled, that they still have to stay in unit coherency as if 1 big formation so the Jet packed troops would still have to be in unit coherency after their withdrawal move.

- draw together all special rules into the same section, include 'Tau Supreme Commander'

- Pathfinders added to a unit confer the Co-ordinated Fire to the unit

- Check the Hunter stats for the Skyray compared to the Scorpionfish (& Dragonfish)
