It has been exactly as I feared it would be when they anounced their decision to go to this new forum of theirs. Most if not all of the SGs forum communities have suffered both looses of people and of the richness of their respective games toppics, and I might add that the much vaunted official ansers to games questions sure doesnt seem to be happening with much regularity over there even though that was supposed to be a big selling point for the new forum, I ask a question and mostly get an opinion, not a quote from the rulebook or the FAQs and certainly not a reply from the powers that be. Its really agravating that all the bad things I thought might come from this move have pretty much come true and the few good things seem to have fallen thru. Grim

Quote (primarch @ 28 2005 July,19:20) | Not that I care much for the so called official forums. I'm glad Epicomms is becoming the ture "hub" for epic discussions. | As it should be!
There has been a definite influx of new members since the SG forum was revamped. I'm glad the endless bickering that went on over there hasn't come over here.

*Holding Breath* Yes I agree, and hope it doesn't get transferred 'over here'. I may get slammed for my next comments but............
When I first got involved in Epic-A, long ago, I really enjoyed working on the game and the people in the forum were an excellant group.
After the release of the game the flood of 'experts' occurred, but it took far longer then I expected for it to reach a 'noise' level high enough to prevent progress. IMHO a change was needed to get some control back so progress could continue.
GW and SG over did it.
(1) The rules being the issue most have a problem with as it defines feedback as "Tell us how good or bad we did, but don't bother telling us what you think or your locked and booted." Intended or not most took this to mean butt out and take what we give you.
They should loosen this one up a bit and allow some feedback ideas to be allowed, but no long documents. A quick thought like 'How about we try...." or "Maybe lower the points to....."
(2) The combined SG forum isn't a bad idea, but having ONE general catagory for all the games IS a bad idea. Search engine or no search engine it is a pain in the behind to slog through the thing.
Have one General Catagory for each game system, and then a General SG catagory covering the [ALL] tag everybody uses now.
Just my two cents, and hoping they didn't kill a good idea that would help them sell games.

Well I must say that I'm happy that I made the change to here.
It is just a pity that we only have a limited number of the playtest lists here.
The others will see the light soon, I'm sure.

It is a blatant statement by GW - that their gamers should be seen and not heard. Give them your cash, but they dont want your input

It seems to me we have been exiled to the frontier rather than still at the center of the "Epic Universe."
The SG board is badly in need of an update from the Experimental Rules Champion .
If nothing is heard from him in the next few weeks then i think we can safely assume that SG are hoping we all just go away, imho.

Life at the frontier is always the best, esp for the hardier individual unfortunatly I think what zak means is that we've been sent as cannon fodder to the front lines whilst the 'generals' ignore us at the base.

There are 2 SG forum members who have funny signatures which kind of sum up the current state of that forum. One is:
First Rule of SG Forum - You DO NOT talk about SG Forum
The other is:
One forum to rule them all One forum to find them One forum to bring them all and on the internet bind them...
I can understand why there is only one SG forum, but to have only one General Discussion area is ridiculous.
Since I joined this forum on May 20th (before the SG forum shake up) 86 people have joined after me. That's a lot of new members in only 2 months.
