the anime-look come mostly from the pose i think; in fact it make me think of 40k aspects warrior, so it must still be quite eldar-ish... While the "wrong scale" feeling bother me, i must say i consider the design is quite pleasing to my taste, and it look quite eldarish to me.

I think what is missing for me is the sense of size. When I look at the original Eldar Titans there is a sense of mass dispite their thin structure. Same goes for many of the Epic models, they "feel" large.

I look at this model and I only feel the shape not the "size". I think that is what makes it feel like a 28mm model rather then an epic titan.

Now the fun part is how to get that feeling back?

on the playtest forum, someone who disliked the "40k scale" look suggested to fill up the visor on the helmet to make it look more liike a wraithGuard or another "wraith-thing".

*cough* ..and thats just what I said earlier in this thread too....  spies are about I tell ya...  :blues:  lol...

Well, sorry stormseer, but as i read the 2 forum, i often forgot on which one i read some idea (mind you, many idea and opinions are represented here and at the playtest forum), or on which i read it first, and makes a mess of quoting.
Well, back to the scale issue : i wonder if basing will not save the revenant, as simple as it is, specially as the pose will let a lot of space on the titan base. ruins, wrecked vehicules or infantry will easily change it all; painting can also give proper sense of scale, but it may be quite hard to achieve (take a look at This to see what i'm speaking about; i'll concede that the photo is partly responsible for the feeling of hugeness of this mini).

To sumarize my opinions; i quite like the mini, even if i was at first quite surprised, but i'll reserve further opinions for when i've seen it painted and based (Maybe Mr Skull will show it to us once he's done with the buggar ? if he is the comissioned guy for it ? please ?).

If I do the revenants, I'll post pics as soon as I can.

However, Carl is now also working on some of the Eldar & since I've been ill I'm having to let more of the swordwind commissions slip so I dont actually know which pieces I'll end up doing in the next 2 months & which pieces will go elsewhere.

I'm hoping that for consistency's sake I'll end up doing the titans so all the basing matches - thats my claim to the job anyhow  :D

Maybe you are right, with the correct basing and paint job it will look better.

I do like the TItan you showed. Well done. The "Walking down the street" look does the miniature good.

Well, I finally have the time to get back to Epic (after about a 2-year absence), and was thinking of starting out by playtesting Black Legion and/or Thousand Sons (easiest things for me to proxy as I already have a Marine force - plus there seem to be enough 'Nid/Tau enthusiasts as is).

With that, since I have been gone for a while, I do have a few questions.

1. How current are the BL/TS lists in the Vault?

2. Are these armies anywhere on the development schedule or are they just something "to be done in 3 years or so after we're finished releasing 15 other lists"?

3. Is there a particular reason why there is no dedicated Epicomms forum for Chaos/BL (or am I just missing something)?

3.5 Who, if anyone, outside of Fanatic is co-ordinating these particular lists?

4. Where is it best to post findings/suggestions/etc.? [Fanatic's new forums, Epicomms general forum, send them to someone via email, etc.]

Tks in advance.

1.  BL and L&D are not very current.  Thousand Sons is pretty close, but I've made a few changes.  I think they are in the TSons thread on here.  I'll be glad to give you specifics and/or resurrect the thread.

2.  BL and L&D have a deadline for the Army Champions to turn over "final" versions to Jervis in September.  At that point, they will be reviewed, tweaked and formatted.  The official versions should be published online around the beginning of 2006.

I'm sure improved versions will be placed in the vault well before the September deadline for general commentary and the nearly-done versions will be posted after the deadline.

Thousand Sons is not on the schedule at this point.

3.  The Army Champions (Pixelgeek and Wraeththu) for chaos have not requested Cybershadow set up an area for them.  They collectively decided that the open debate on the Epic websites was not constructive.  They are doing some overhauling with a private group and will release the results for public commentary later.

3.5  Pixelgeek and Wraeththu.  They are both allowing me substantial input as I am the Thousand Sons Champion, but TSons is a very low priority and they are really in the lead.

4.0  I'm pretty sure they both view the official boards and epicomms in addition to the private group forum, so either will work eventually, or you could email them from their profiles.  I'd suggest going with the official site in the Experimental Rules Feedback section as the fastest and most "official" (for lack fo a better term).  Any of the above will probably work equally well for me.

Actually, Wraeththu has requested a Lost and Damned board, which is set up in the 'Focus HQ' section. She is currently on holiday (I think), so it should be more active when she returns.

Thanks.

First, Neal, thanks for clueing me in. I think I'm getting the hang of how things are now...[Though I still miss the old blue/white Fanatic forum with its endless arguments. Call me old-fashioned.]

Given the models I have available (and the timing of various things), I think I'll focus on LotD first (plus another area player is already working on AMTL - pooling efforts could be most productive here). After those are done (and as I get new models), some variant Eldar lists are a possibility...

_That said_, I'd still like to playtest TS; they are what got me into Epic in the first place (back in the SM2ed days), and I think the list currently in the Vault needs a good bit of work. [Plus it ought be one of the more unusual Marine/Chaos builds.] Neal, I'll PM you more about this, if you don't mind.
