Wow, great idea for an article! Knowing your painting speed D, you'll have that lot polished off in a few weeks and up on the web....
**I see Eldar titan feet mentioned in one auction.... I am sorely in need of _one_, so keep me in mind if you don't need them!

I luvs me some orks. ====
You have two limitations that I can see. You don't have enough grots to do a mainstream ork army and you don't have enough buggies or other appropriate raw material to make tons of trukks for a speed freeks list.
Of course, while you have some boarz, I think you're nowhere near a respectable feral ork army.
From what you have, I would head towards lots of mounted warbands. You have tons of battlewagons to mount them in, and they make for a good, surprisingly fast core to the army.
I think you have enough stormboyz to build a single mob (6 stands). It's not going to do much in a game, but they are good for piling on assaults, screening bigger formations so they dont' get pinned down by enemy scouts. Basically, a sacrifice unit or something to snag objectives with late in the game.
You have plenty of warbuggies. They make for good all-around Kults of Speed. They can do everything okay - shoot, CC and FF - so they can be used in an opportunistic manner. One of the best uses for them is the old double move and fire, followed by an assault with them in support.
You also have enough bikes and skorchas to make a more assault-oriented KoS. Bikes for the CC, Skorchas for the FF because you will never get a big or uge KoS into base contact all at once. And buggies are fine for filler to bulk out such a mob if you want. Some people will say not to mix the LVs and infantry, but my experience has been that even though it looks bad on paper, it works just fine in play.
I love Big and Uge Gunzmobs and you will have plenty of guns. Add the maximum allowed nobz so they can shed blast markers and if you round up some models or do some conversions, 2-3 Oddboyz gives 2 templates of MW. A lot of people hate them because they have some drawbacks (no mob up bonus), but I think it's a matter of style. Use them aggressively with lots of double moves. They won't hit much, but they can take ground and if they get into FF range, they are quite good. Don't get me wrong, they are decimated about as often as not in the games I play, but they do take the enemy's attention and make them do things they might not want to otherwise.
You probably have enough gunwagons to make a respectable Blitz Brigade. I wouldn't take less than a big one unless you are adding fortresses. They are, obviously, best used as light tanks. They are quite fast and can perform the same kinds of actions as warbuggies (double move and shoot, then support an assault), but it's best to use their range and keep them back a bit.
It's shaping up to be a pretty shooty ork force - I highly approve.

Well, having sat down with my rulebook earlier, I knocked up a quick list based off what I've got, and how the models are "themed" already. Giving myself a 3k total, I ended up with this:
Big Warband (Goffs) + 3 Nobz + 1 Stormboy + 4 Boyz + 12 Battlewagons (+ Warboss) - 1000
Big Warband (Bad Moons) + 2 Boyz + 4 Big Gunz + 4 Dreadnoughts - 620
Normal Kult O' Speed - 5 Warbikes & 10 Warbuggies + 1 Gunwagon w/ Oddboy - 460
Normal Kult O' Speed (9 Skorchas) - 225
Mekboy Stompamob (Goffs) + Stompa - 300
Mekboy Gunzmob (Bad Moons) (8 Big Gunz) - 200
Blitz Brigade (Goffs) - 5 Gunwagons - 185*
Total: 2990
* - The Blitz Brigade is really there to help on activations, though one solution to that is to break the 2 Kults into 3 formations, and possible split one of the two warbands
Interestingly, the above list makes use of none of the Evil Sunz warband, only the Goffs, Bad Moonz and Kult o' Speed.....

Quote (dysartes @ 17 2005 Mar.,13:30) | Auctions won, but awaiting delivery Lots of stuff - need to look at the orks as a % of that auction, and work out a cost from there. This also gives me some trade stuff | If you are interested in getting rid of the Chaos & IG sprues let me know.

Mojarn Piett/Stormseer - I'l keep you in mind for when that auction arrives, OK?

Well, I just based my 4 Mekboy vehicles, and my 2 Gunwagons (along with Ordinatus Mars), so they're vaguely ready.
Admittedly, I think I'm only using the Doomdiver Magna Kannon in the list over the page, but y'know, it helps me be ready.
I think I'm gonna need some more Warmaster bases

Heard that, Warmaster? Watch out for Dysartes, he's after your bases!
(along with Ordinatus Mars)
It's the casual way he says these things that gets me - just painting a 150GBP army, and, while I'm at it, based an Ordinatus to keep things going..... groan! Why does he even need a 3-week break!
Cheers Dysartes - have fun!

Anyway, I was using the classifications in the back of the E:A rulebook, which (slightly randomly) has the Magna-Kannon down as a Soopa-Gun - so it'll be attached to the larger of the two Kults of Speed. | Ah, I see. I see the soopa gun view, but personally prefer to keep it as flak, but to each his own.
Well, vanvlak, yknow, I got to keep you on your toes |
Understatement of the year; Dysartes, you get the 'Lets-paint-a-warmachine-whilst-the-paint-dries-on-these-5000-points-of-orks...' award, I guess. ?
